When you're thinking of the GOD/S you believe in, assuming you believe in GOD/S, how does/do he/she/it/they look like?

While that may indeed be true, carmelanirel, I feel that it does not answer the questions I've posted. So, to be clear and to be on topic, could you kindly share with us what, to your mind, exactly "His image" is? Thanks a lot in advance for enlightening us and Happy myLotting! ;)

debrakcarey, that could perhaps be a good way of making sense of what she was trying to say. That said, I asked for clarification from her mainly because I didn't want to interpret what she was attempting to convey, as my interpretation may turn out to be wrong after all. Stay positive and Happy myLotting!

Perhaps she is speaking of her mind, her spirit and her inner self. I think I understand what she means.

I believe in god, and for what everybody call him a dad, sometimes I tend to think about a guy, but actually I do not have a imagen of god in my mind...

terrych, simply out of curiosity and if you don't mind, when you think of a guy that represents the God you believe in at times, how does that particular guy look like, if I may ask? Thanks and Happy myLotting!

I can't describe the god I believe in. I know the bible claims he made man in his image. But that could be a metaphor. It might not be a direct translation that we LOOK like him, but that we ARE like him or we have the ability to try t make decisions like him/her. I don't think he has a human face, I don't even think th god I believe in has a tangible body. I think it's energy, and I think it's something we can't understand or describe with the knowledge we have right now.

In my opinion God does not have a form. But I usually visualise God to be in the form of light, whenever I think of him or meditate upon him. This helps in meditating with concentration.

I don't think I can put a face on God. God is in all of us. We are made in his image, so everywhere I look there is an imprint of him on it or him/her. So, I really can't say taht I think of him as a human or with a face.

I'll tell you what Acme, I sit here and listen to all these guys that deny religion, and the presence of a God, and then the argument on the other side, about christianity, and I don't care what they say, it is merely words to me! I believe in what I believe, and I don't need evidence from 2000 or 3000 yrs ago to prove or disprove anything! My belief comes from within my own heart, and my own soul, and mind! I have lived my life, I have experienced my life, and I have faith in what I have experienced! Within me I have my belief of what a God is, and what He would look like! But it could not be put on paper! My belief is what is strong, not the picture of what He looks like!

GOD is secret..we cant know about him..in this world, different people talking differently about GOD..but all are not true..man cannot explore god..people imagine god by the basis their surroundings and environment..each people have different about god..for example, there is a sand bridge connects india and srilanka..according hindhu mythology,it was built by the king Rama who s a god but born as human to destroy a bad king named ravana..but internationally, the bridge is called as Adam's bridge..here starts the difference...Is rama true or Adam s true...?...Hence god is unanswerable question...

I'm quite sure that your view may perhaps, to a certain extent, have some merit to it. Nevertheless, ravi, what I'm really simply asking is how precisely does/do your god/s look like when you visualize him/her/it/they? In your mind's eye, does/do he/she/it/they assume a human form, for instance, or not? Thanks a lot in advance for your clarification and Happy myLotting! ;)

Depends on what I want him and her to look like. The Great Spirit looks like the sky all around the Earth when I'm outdoors. He looks like an old, loving man when I need comfort. He looks like a prankster when I need to be cheered up. My Earth Mother looks like the entire world when I'm outdoors. She looks live a loving, caring old woman when I need comfort. She can also look quite the scamp when I want to be cheered up. Sometimes they're just a feeling like the wind blowing and don't really look like anything. Interesting topic. Take care

Given your nice post, would I be correct in saying that you do not have a singular representation of god in your mind's eye, since he/she is dependent on the circumstances you find yourself in? Thanks a lot for appreciating the topic I came up with and Take care as well! Happy myLotting, writersedge! ;)

I know and understand where you're coming from, tines. If I were to ask you, though, do you have a specific image of him, when you're praying to or worshiping him in solitude? If you do, what does he look like? Thanks a lot in advance for fully answering my questions and Happy myLotting! ;)

God has no shape. The believers of one God think so. God has no limit. He(if God is male)is almighty. He created the universe and all living being. He wants all creatures should obey and pray to Him.He punishes the sinners and gives rewards to the pious es .These are the thinking of God believers. All preachers of religions are male.So they created the image of God as Man.But those believe in many gods they have gods and goddess. They believe God has many shapes. Gods and goddess are the many symbols of one God.

Interestingly....The names God declared to the Hebrews for Himself are sometimes in female gender, sometimes in plural too. Elohim is plural...ElShaddai is the breated one...a nurturer.

I see Him as bright shinning light. To glorious to look at. I think it is wrong to try and put a human face on God. I even think it is unnecessary to try and figure out what Jesus looked like. The Bible says in the old Testament that there is nothing about the Messiah's countenance that would draw people to him...in other words he would be just a regular guy in looks.

There was a reason God said not to make idols (pictures of gods)...to the Jews...through the Mosaic law. It promotes pride....and a bringing down of the Almighty to human level. How can one who created all....be contained in an image? It is our physcial self trying to imagine a spiritual being....and it's impossible.

I can't and don't try to describe what G-d looks like in His purest form. But He can come down in any form. That means He can come down as a woman.

From the doctrines most people had since their childhood, I imagine God would be a man with beard wearing cloth like the Greeks. But I know God wasn't like that or perhaps God is whatever we imagine God is.

When I think of God, acmepride, I don't have any thought to what He looks like because I believe what is written that no one has ever looked upon the face of God.

To me God looks like the image in the painting at the (upper level) front of the Basilica of the Annunciation (Nazareth, Israel). He has long dark hair, a beard and mustache. He wears a long robe and sandals and carries his journal.

HomeFlower, if I'm not mistaken, I think this is the more popular image of Jesus Christ, as this is what can be often seen in the media. I could be wrong, though, since to be completely honest, I haven't gone to the Basilica of the Anunciation yet. Stay positive and Happy myLotting!

My God made man in his own image so I imagine he looks like a man. I've never thought about the color of his eyes or the color of his hair. I don't think it matters very much. Sometimes I imagine God looks like everything. Like somehow everything is connected in him. Perhaps like images of outer space with glowing celestial bodies all bunched up together.
