How do you ensure that the discussion that you are going to paste is a new one?
I tried searching with the key words i had in mind. But nothing came up. Finally when i posted the discussion, i find that there is a very similar to the one i posted. I felt really bad. And there is a chance of mylot admins deleting it too. i didn't want that to happen :(
I'm really sad.
Have anyone of you faced such a situation??How did you get over this kind of a situation??

As i don't post much discussion I haven't faced such a situation as such. As you did, search for similar topics. If you don't come across any such discussion then be free to start your discussion. I don't think admins would delete your discussion for being somewhat similar, as they know it is difficult to trace for a similar discussion from thousands of mylot discussion. Only discussion that are complete copy would be deleted. Make sure that you don't post discussion that gets one word answers. Starting such discussion would create much revenue. All the best :)

When you see the number of members here on MyLot it's inevitable that there are likely to be duplicate discussions posted. So long as you are original or have a different slant on a subject you should be ok.

In the menu you can find "discussion I have started" icon. Hit it and you can see the details. Otherwise you have to keep it in your mind..

Hey its not that i don't remember which discussions i have started.. Its that the community may have such a message already posted. I want to avoid a duplicate discussion.

I don't think there is a sure fire way to know but, you know, not everybody sees the same discussion because not everone is on everyone's friends list. Besides, I don't care if one were to be repeated. It doesn't bother me in the least. Heck, if I don't want to answer it, there is the delete button after all.

The best advice I can give you is to think of all the tags that may be associated with your discussion and do a search of discussions for each one. I know this is a pain, but it's the only way to make sure a similar discussion hasn't been posted. Even then, a misspelling in someone elses discussion may link it once you've submitted the post.
Unfortunately, you are not the only one that has this problem. If you've ever checked out the interest link (top) and then all interests, you'll see many links that basically amount to the same thing, they're just phrased differently. You might even want to start here as you'll at least have a category to start with and if you find something similar this way, you won't be duplicating someone elses post.
As to whether your discussion gets deleted or not is up to MyLot. I've seen plenty of duplicate posts that don't get deleted, yet others get deleted right away. Just do your best to find a discussion similar to what you want to post before entering yours & you should be ok.

Yes, I do. All the while I thought I am writing a new idea and yet when I put it in there I will found out that someone has the same idea, so my ideas might be the same as the others idea. At least we have no way of knowing them unless it was opened and the same subject was logged in. We have to live by it.
