i was on the mall today with friends and then we saw this jewelry store who was on big sale...so we go in and have a look... we saw some good jewelries with good price... most of them are 10 karat gold... i bought a pair of 10 karat earings $99 dollars down to 39.. and a necklace with 109 dollars down to 99... they are good... my friends got some too
but.. is it really worth buying that? they said that there are nothing with a ten karat... what do you think?? if you're on my side, would you want to buy some too?
share your ideas... :)

My ex-husband always wanted gold in 10 karat because it is less soft. He was very rough on his jewelry. He didn't want to worry so much about scratching it or squishing it. Worked well for him. I don't like to wear yellow gold all that much myself.

Hi jHoEn16! I love jewelries but I also see to it that they will be some form of investment on my part. I do buy gold and it really matters if how many karat it has and most importantly its weight (in grams). This was advised to me by a friend of mine who owns a pawn shop and she told me that in buying jewelries you have to see how much it weighs and how much is its karat. The heavier the better and the higher karat it has, the better. So, with a 10 karat gold that is fine too because it is an investment just the same. Take care and have a nice day.

10k just doesn't "look" right. 14k is borderline so 18k or higher is the way to go. Of course if you're prospecting, you take whatever you find--which will usually be between 18k and 22k anyway plus it's a lot more fun than shopping in a jewelry store.

some people has a collection of jewelries. they get is as an investment. i am not a kind of person who goes for jewelries, maybe because for me there are more important things to buy than jewelries. as you know i have four kids and their education is more important than buying jewelry. if the day comes and they are grown up and they can buy jewelry of their own i am going to be delighted if they will give me but to buy one.... as of the moment i dont think i can afford it.

wow if my mom was there she will buy some. my mom loves jewelries, though she doesnt wear them. silly isnt it. she buys it but not wears it. she wears it only on special occasions but mostly it is inside her jewelry box. if you think you can afford it then why not. it is a good investment.

When you buy 10 karat you can spend more on the stones that go in them. I have real sapphire jewelry and I have bigger sapphires because they've been set in 10 karat. As your other responder said, I don't have to worry about squishing it or marring the finish with 10 karat and it isn't likely that I'd lose a stone, but I have with 14 and 18 karat. Having the setting and no stone is next to worthless!

hi jhoen... my mom would always buy atleast 18k to 24k gold... atleast, it has more gold percentage that when you resell, it you can still get your money back... most people in my country, consider jewelry as an investement and usually passed from one generation to another as heirloom pieces that increases values as antiques.. hehehe.. but if you bought it at such low price, i think, it is worth it... since it wont tarnish or rust...
