I dont know if I spelt it right. OK I watched the History channel and its has a show called the lost cities. This wensday was about the lost city of armogedon. So I want to start this disscussion and see what people think about what Im about to say. First thing is do you ever think that in Revelation when they talk about armogedon its about that city in that time and age. What about the number 666 which Nero in numuramic charters would be 666 and he branded his army. It was hard times for the people then so of course all through history we as people thought that hard times were the end of the world. We have yet to have an end to the world and we have had many times that we thought that it would be. So did you ever think that the revelation was about the then and there instead of whats going to happen 1000's of years down the road?

If there was really a city it's likely that it was
Megiddo, it's where a great many battles were fought,
and there have been battles fought there in modern
times as well, The battles take place there because
it's where Syria and Palestine/Israel come together,
the ground is very fertile which in desert country
makes it extremely valuable..
When the Roman Emporer Constantine assembled what is
now knmon as the Bible he included the Revelation of
Saint John because Meggido is such valuable terrritory
that the revelation was certain to come true.. Such
skillful maniplation of facts is the hallmark of
Dishonest Tyrants the world over.
He was somewhat successful as the religions he created,
now known as Roman Catholiccism and Easterm Orthodoxy,
have lasted for 16 hundred years now... in fact the
Byzantine Empire with it's headquarters at Constanople
Turkey lasted for a thousand years until it was
conquered by Islam and had it's name changed to the
Ottoman Turkish Empire which lasted until it was
dismantled at the end of the first world war.

Some people believe that the book of Revelation was actually written about events that were going on at the time. And other people think it is written about now. Or in the future. Some people believe its just a reminder that Christ will return. Some people believe that it was just a hallucination.
There have been a series of both sincere and very misguided people who have been able to interpret the book of Revelation to indicate the time they are currently living in. There were groups in the 1880s that were able to be very convincing that the book of Revelation was talking about that point in time. (and then when the end of the world didn't happen, they moved their "date" back). And there have been times in other parts of history as well.
If you really studied into things, you COULD make a valid argument for any of those cases.
But the big factor is that sometimes people use that book - and different religious leaders are not exempt - to scare people into doing what they want them to do as well. To preach that the end of the world was going to happen right then .
What modern Christians *ALL* believe is that Jesus Christ will come back. We don't know the day, the hour, the year. But where there is disagreement is that some people believe that a date can be pointed to, and some do not believe if there is a date announced its false and not to dwell on it.

A through discussion of Revelation is not something that can be addressed in forum like this one.
