I try not to think of it as a spin-off. It is such a totally different show than Grey's. The only similarity is that Addison is in it. There is a whole different vibe to this show. It is way more laid back and easy-going. The characters are more eclectic. On Grey's the characters are all interns. On PP the characters are doctors in different disciplines and have different philosophies of what's right and wrong.
I think it is successful in it's own right.

I am loving this show!! The cast is terrific, the storylines have been wonderful. I like the way the PP doctors consult each other. It is successful in my eyes!! It is heartfelt, funny, serious all in one. Just like Grey's to a certain extent ~ I look forward to watching it as much as I do Greys (well almost) ~

I really haven't found anything I didn't like on the show. I think the most important thing is you can't compare it to grey's. They worked in a fast paced hospital. Addison is now at a small private practice. I like addison better here. you get to see a more likeable side to her then when she came on to greys. they have had some pretty interesting cases so far too. like the girl that was pregnant and they thought she wasn't eating but really she had crones disease. or the switched babies.
Most people I've seen on here have liked the show, but i've heard it got really bad reviews. I hope that more people will give it a chance so it can stay on air. Boy wouldn't Kate Walsh feel dumb for leaving greys if her show bombs after the first season.

If her show would bomb and I am hoping that it doesn't...... I believe when she left Seattle Grace, the chief left her position opened! YAY ~ but just in case, lets hope it doesn't come to that!

Unfortunately, we haven't seen Private Practice yet here in the Philippines. But from what I saw in Grey's Anatomy (the 2 episodes where Addison went out of town), the group of actors in the other hospital seem interesting. The "elevator" most of all LOL!
I hope we get to see it too. I think I'd like seeing Addison bloom on her own. Her character has come so far from the initial antagonist role she came in at Grey's.
