I wouldn't say that one is necessarily better then the other, but because I am VERY allergic to cats I have only had dogs. I did have cats before I found out I had allergies quite a few years ago, but all animals have their own little personalities and that's what makes them unique and special, kind of like people. No I don't think dogs are better than cats.I think it is a tie. It all depends on the human. There are dog people and there are cat people. As long as you know who you are and cat people and dog people can get along, the world will be a great place.

Nope. There is nothing more precious or better in the world than a good cat. Dogs are just too needy.

Cats and Dogs Do Get Along - This photo was taken of Tasha our Lab/Shepherd 16 plus female dog lying with two of our 5 cats. The gray one at the top is Ellie and the Ginger Orange Male is one of two male twins...Tigger. We have 2 dogs and cats and they all get along well.
Boy are you hitting topics I can relate to this evening. To me pets fall under the same concept as people and that is that there is no best in the world of individuals. My hubby and I have had 4 dogs and 8 cats in the 17 plus years we've been together and we love them all...but for different reasons. Every dog...and every cat has had different personalities and attributes that make them lovable in their own ways. In in our experience our dogs have always been higher maintenance. You have to walk them, clean up poop, find you someone to look after them when you want to travel, walk them, groom them and they require a lot more TLC than our cats do. Now don't get me wrong I am a dog lover and treasure the bond I have them them. They are fun to take for walks, romp in the yard with or just have as devoted, loving furry companions. Our oldest Tasha a Lab/Shepherd cross is going into her 17th year and still doing OK for a dog that age. Cherokee our Husky/Shepherd male is around 8 years and a really big wuz. They co-exist very well with our 5 cats. The advantages to having cats is that they are much lower maintenance. Ours are all indoor cats and all they want is to be fed, have fresh water and petted and played with on THEIR schedule. They are loving, affectionate, great company. They snuggle and lie on sore spots when you are not feeling well and in their mischief making ways are very entertaining. So in my view I could not say that a dog is better than a cat...or a cat is better than a dog. They all bring much love, light, laughter, comfort companionship and enjoyment and we think of them as part of our furry family members. I have included an image of how well dogs and cats can and do get along...even though many claim they do not. Fun discussion...thanks for posting it and allowing me to sing the praises of cats and dogs! Raia

You are welcome....I could write volumes about what I have experienced from the various cats and dogs we have had. Each one is a unique energetic imprint and those who observe them can sense it. Cats do have distinct personalities regardless of those who say they don't. We have two sets of siblings and two male ginger twins and they are all different within their inner beings. Anyway, thanks for giving me a chance to sing their praises and giving me your best response for doing it. Much appreciated! Raia
