Too much of a good thing, have you ever wished your freinds would go home?

Yes I have been in that situation few times. I had relatives come down to my city on new years eve when we were suposed to be having a party at my home (well we lived with my parents and they were going to stay at my systers house as my sister was on holiday) they called 1 h before they got here (its about 10 h drive) I just wanted to cry as all plans had to be changed. Few times also, people come to visit us and forget to go home so they stay til 2-3 in the morning. Now my son cant sleep if there is a lot of noise (he is 4) my husband often works from 7 am so you can see where the problem is.

I can TOTALLY relate! I have had friends pop round before because theyre bored and although its lovely to catch up i had a million and one things to do, but i thought well it would be nice to catch up - and it was but when 4 hours had passed and they started dosing on the safa i started to seriously get miffed!

No my dear I have never allowed myself to be caught in this position and I am very sorry for you if you were. Its not that I dont like people I really do. I have been invited by a good friend for my daughter and I to sepnd the weekend with her. When I went there the night her house was filled with women. So of course being me, I left. So one day I told her what I thought of that habit of hers and now she is finally understanding because of very bad experiences with them. Me? I would never put myself in that position. My home is my sanctuary and I guard it like a tigress would guard her cubs. No, I dont go to people's house. Mine is good enough to hold me and entertain me.

I live alone and work home-based too so visiting friends are a welcome relief to me especially on week-ends. But i make it a point to be clear to them that they can stay longest for overnight only. There's a saying that guests are like old fish--- they start to smell around two to three days of staying.
