Obviously a perfect list should be ready otherwise going to supermarket - a ocean of temping materials, I would land up buying two months!s material in one go and land up in trouble. Actually, the list is preapared by my wife and we go together to get them.

Always, if I don't make a list then I will end up with twice as many things in my cart and spending twice as much money as I intended on.

I always make a list before I go grocery shopping. I find that it helps me stay a bit more focused on what I need to buy and cuts down on my impulse buying, thereby saving me money. I also like to have a list so that I don't forget things that I need. I hate having to go back the next day because I forgot to pick up butter or eggs.

Yes. Everytime I need to go to the grocery store I make a list. I want to make sure I get everything I need in one trip. I hate having to go back the next day because I forgot something. I also plan out the meals we are having for the week. Then I know when I shop I get enough food for the week and I know whats for dinner everynight. Lists make life easier!

I make a list of the items I HAVE to have but usually just go through each aisle to get everything else. I usually go shopping with a pretty tight budget so there isn't much room for "extras" anyway.

I have a basic list of things that we use on an everyday basis. Things like milk, butter, bread, eggs. Then I have a list of items for our dinner menu for the week. I do allow for some flexibility. For instance, if I find hamburger meat on sale for a good price, even if it is not on my list, I will buy a few pounds and put in my freezer. It is silly to me to pass up a really good deal just because it isn't on my list. I just make a adjustments to the list as I go for the stuff that is a better deal. For instance, yesterday I went shopping. I found broccoli/cheese quiches at the 99c store. I love these things and I pay $2.98 each for them at my local grocery store. Well, I bought 9 of them. I was planning to buy 3 of them at my grocery store anyway so I spent the same amount of money, but I got enough for 3 meals in stead of just 1. I made an adjustment to my list to eliminate two other meals for the week. I ended up saving money on my food budget.
When I went to WalMart, I found sirloin tip steaks that had a sell by date of Oct 28. So they were reduced to 1.99 a pound, from 4.99 a pound. I bought several packages, again adjusting my menu for the week. I got them home, rinsed the blood off, packaged them in meal sized portions into freezer bags and stuck them in my freezer. So instead of only having beef for two meals this week, we can have beef for 6 meals.
Sometimes, allowing some flexibility into your lists may have you buying more than what was on the list, but you can sometimes actually save more money.

More often than not, yes I do bring a list of things to buy at the groceries to buy only the essential items first...I am forgetful these days so that everytime I go to the supermarket without a list, there is a greater chance of forgetting some important things. If not, I just do a mnemonics, and presto, I'll remember most items I need at home...I just imagine our kitchen, comfort room, or my room and the things that are needed there; that helps me to remember important items which are prepositioned in specific areas in our house...

I always make a list because I am so forgetful and when I dont have a list, I end up having to go back to the store a second time to pick up the things I forgot!

I make a list! Otherwise I will go bankrupt buying everything I see. Especially if I have an empty stomach.

hi pinay. I make a list before going shopping, ut not always. I sometimes don't make list if I don't have much to buy.
I buy mostly things, that are on my list. Sometimes I see something, what's not on my list, because I haven't thought about it, but I buy it, because it's quite necessary. And when I see something, what I use, but with really low price, like my favourite shampoo, cut-rated, I buy it even if I don't need it at the moment. Because I save money buying it and I'll use it soon.
I'm the lucky one, that don't like doing shopping, and I don't buy a lot if I don't need. I don't like to carry heavy bags:).

making a list is really a great help as you won't be missing anything that needs to be bought. It will also save you time because you don't have to wander around the store, you know already what items to pick. Oh, same here, i also tend to buy items not on the list-- mostly snack foods.

I generally dont make a list when i go to the store, but sometimes I do if I am making a special recipie or I need some things that I dont normally buy. Like if I need ketchup which is something I only buy every six months or so, I will make a list and make sure I write ketchup on it or it will never be bought.

I used to make lists but then half the time I would either forget to take it, or I would completely ignore so I decided it was a waste of time. Now I go up and wander round and buy, after making a quick mental list of the essentials. I use the shop so regularly and know the regular items I buy so I really don't have much need for one anymore :)
