What is halloween???

hey friends,...
i know that people over here may feel it absurd to be asked such a question..
But am sorry.. since am from india and i belong to another religion, i have no idea about halloween..
could you please tell me what is it?? And how do you celebrate it and what is th intension behind celebrating halloween..
I just know that people dress themselves in scary manner(if am not weong!!).. why do they do so??
I am eager to know more about halloween..

In my country Malaysia, there are many event management companies which promote their offerings for participants to register with their company and every thing will be arranged by their staffs for event scheduled, venue and procedures.

I dont think Halloween has to connected to religion. I suppose if, a country such as India, doesnt celebrate it, then going around trick or treating is pointless. And yes, look up the facts given, its much easier.

other people on here has responded with a good source to learn about halloween.
and they are good sites to read.
I think here in the Staes someone just thought up the idea of an other holiday and this one for the kids. to have fun.
I loved dressing up and going out and getting candy or what ever that was handed out.
Now I am a grand ma I have fun giving out the candy to see what others have came up withto dress thier kids up as .
Then we ggot some of thhose awaful people that put razor blades in apples and thing to hurt the kids and it got unsafe where we have to look at every piece of candy for small needle holes to razor blades and got where we only take the kids where the people have their porch lite on. again bad apples in every thing that is to be fun make it out other wise.
and its sort of like pretend to be some thing different for one night to dress up to be what you think you want to be or just to dress up to scare people I just enjoy it . Maybe not as much as Christmas but pretty close.

Today the celebrations has very little to do with the original holiday. Very few people really know what they are doing. to them is pretty much a night to get scared and take kids around from house to house to get candy. Here ae some site you might want to visit to learn more about it's origins.

A great place to find out information is the Wikipedia.
It's a free online encyclopedia. Keep in mind that it is user submitted, it's 96% of the time almost always factual but sometimes people can input false information. But it's not often.
