I think I could sit here and tell you the words, page for page in Green Eggs and Ham! That was the favorite of my son and middle daughter and of course Dr. Seuss has been handed down to my grandkids and Greeen Eggs has also been their favorite. I can never figure out why since all of Dr. Seuss' books are awesome as far as I'm concerned but this one seems to get them every time. What can it be? Do you have a favorite Dr. Seuss book? Do your kids? Do you think they were the best books for the younger kids or not?

I believe that most people have a soft spot for Green Eggs and Ham, ctry. I can remember when my little ones would listen to me read it. They would squeal with delight over the nonsensical words. Dr. Seuss is a real National Treasure! It does take you back to a simpler time when kids really got a chance to be kids.

I know. Totally cute! they've done a pretty decent job bringing Dr. Seuss to life. They have a cartoon version from back in the day that was always totally cute.

My favorite Dr. Seuss book is Oh The Places You'll Go. I got it as a graduation gift when I graduated from university. It is such a great book about all the oppertunites you're going to have when you go out into the world. I loved it so much I have given it to my sister as her graduation gift when she graduated from high school. You should check it out, it really is fabulous.

I am a Pre Kindergarten teacher and I have to say that my favorite is "The Cat in the Hat". The entertaining tale is told in rhymes and gives young children an appreciation for rhyming language and uses the repetition of familiar words in print to foster begining reading. I have noticed that after Mom, Dad and their own names most children know how to spell CAT...from The Cat in the Hat? I wouldn't discount it.

I think you're right. The book was a fantastic way for kids to learn spelling and CAT would be the first easy word to learn.

I only got familiar with Dr. Seuss books as an adult when I had my kids and even as an adult I really had a great time reading them:) Our favorite one was one fish... two fish..the kids wanted it all the time. As for them being the best books for younger kids.. I"m not sure. I know they are great and that small kids enjoy them a lot. They also enjoy other books too. I don't even know I can find one only that is the best.

Green Eggs and Ham is my favorite too. I used to read that one all the time as a kid. It was the first Dr. Suess book I got for my daughter and I also got it for my sister when she was little. I also really liked The Sneeches.

I think my oldest daughter also like the Sneeches. She was always reading it when she was small.

I remember when my brother was small, his favorite was Green Eggs and Ham. My mom read it to him all the time, but he liked all of them. When my son was small my brother bought him just about every Dr. Seuss book there is. My son's favorite was the Cat in the Hat. 1&2. I had to read it to him so many times, I would do it without reading the book. He liked them all though.
