It seems that types of people choose types of religion. Why might a particular religion be host to individuals with specific income levels? Do people with different income levels hace different values that are reflected in the particular ideology of the religion to which they belong? Do you think religions reject and/or recruit people with particular income levels? For exmaple, doesnt scientlogy recurit the wealthy?
In answering the questions, please choose a specific religon and examine the characteristics of the adherrents.

I think that most people go along with the religion that they were taught as a child. If they were brought up to believe in a certain religion then usually they will stick with that religion because through the years they have come to believe in what they were taught.People who were brought up and was not associated with any religion or was not brought up in one, tend to search out a religion after they grow up.Every church i have ever been in has both poor, rich, well fixed or wealthly...In the jewish religion for example , a lot of those jewish people are rich, but they were rich to start with, they did not join that religion just because they were rich.I was brought up pentecostal, and trust me there are many differnt types that call themseves pentecostal..I do believe what my church teaches, maybe not every little thing but the foundation of my beliefs are based on what i was taught.I truely believe that way...Christians are really not suppose to join a certain church because they are rich, but some do that, but that is wrong and by doing that they are not gaining anything..Also some churches are partual to the rich ones and that too is very wrong...I think a person should go to a church that they feel that meets their religious beliefs, and not for what they can get or how high up they can get. There are all kinds of religions and really just one Bible so it should be all the same but each church reads the scripture and sees it all in a different way,it should not be that way.As the scripture plainly says we are to work out our own salvation with fear and trembling...regardless of what church you go to,you must really rely on your feelings and how you feel in your own heart..Christians have a inner communication,a relationship with God and that is really what you should go by,if you listen to your own heart and do what you feel is right, read the scripture and do all you need to do to feel that inter peace then thats all you can do.Looking around at what others do,can send you to Hell because we are all human and make mistakes..you basically have to keep your eyes on God not on others..Looking at people will discourage you really bad..There are good and bad in all churches..The same pew you sit on the devil can be sitting right beside....I have a friend that is all confused because of what people do in church,i told her that she has to look away from people and look to God for guidence....our own heart will never fail you.

Religion/Church is NOT about money. It's about GOD.
The type of religion/Church one chooses is/should be based on God...where you think that God wants you to worship, not about the size of your bank account.
Most times one goes to a Church because someone they know invites them. They will stay there if they think that that is where they're supposed to be.
Sure you do find Churches that have a wealthier congretational mix. I think that this could be explained by the location of the Church more than that wealthy people choose to worship at a particular Church...For the most part, people worship where they live.
Additionally there are wealthy and not so wealthy Churches within denominations.
As for the values...in my opinion the mere fact that both the wealthy and the not so wealthy goes to Church shows me that many of their CORE values are similar, regardless of the size of their bank account.
If there is a Church in this day and age that discriminates against someone because of their socioeconomic status I would say run very fast in the opposite direction!
I think that I can't speak on Scientology so I won't.

Hi L... I like your questions, very original.
I don't believe that wealthy people choose a religion based on their wealth. I think maybe it seems like that because most people attend a church within their neighborhood. So, if for example you're Catholic and you live in an affluent neighborhood, chances are that parish will reflect what seems like wealth, whereas if you lived in East LA. by contrast, it would reflect the poor and possibly even the homeless. I think we just HEAR about the rich and famous that attend, for instance, the church of Scientology. There are probably just as many middle class and others that attend, at least I hope so.
Thanks for the questions, ...fun to think about and respond to.
