I have a 5 year old boy that is in the process of being tested. The school said that it was a problem and we took it to his doctor. It has been a hard road. I love my kids more than anything but I could have enjoyed life more in the past.
We bought some fake gold coins and when he does something good we give on to him. He trades them in for treats, tv or video game time, special nights out for him or if he saves enough we will take him to Disneyland. He has only been doing it a short time but he is trying harder to do what needs to be done. It helps a bit, I fugure it all adds up.

My middle daughter, now 25, is ADHD and I had the same problem with her when whe was younger and her meds wore off. Is your son on the sustained release formula? I had a lot of luck with that kind versus the shorter acting one.

The way my doc explained it to me is that meds are work for so long, and that depends on how your childs body metabolizes it. For my son, do to the dosage he is on, he takes one pill when he wakes up, then right before he walks out the door for school, he takes the other pill.
It also helps with the lull that he has right before lunch, because that is about when the second pill kicks in. It doesn't give you much more time into the evening, but it helps.
The best thing you can do is talk to the doc. The meds are suppose to control the symptoms, and if the symptoms are not being controlled all day, there are other options, such as a late morning dose.
