I recieved the Entertainment Weekly Magazine today. In there, is an ad asking you to go to EW.com and vote for your favorite t.v. icon of all time. Nominations close on Friday, November 9. On the full page ad, they have pictures of a lot of the favorites. I do not recognize them all but, let's see. There is, Lucille Ball, Oprah Winfry, Mr.T, Roseanne Barr, Barbara Walters, Kirk Cameron, Bill Cosby, just to name a few.
But, wait before you go, I want to know who it is you are voting for and why? At first, I could not decide between Roseanne Barr and Lucille Ball, but then I had to go with Lucy. Her show was wholesome and funny from beginning to end. While, there are episodes of Roseanne's show that I would never want to see again.

While Lucille Ball and Johnny Carson are undeniable icons, I tended to vote for my favorites who were also legitimate TV icons. I listed my top three choices as: Betty White, Bill Cosby, and Scully and Mulder. Betty White has been on three hit TV series, and still guest stars on shows today. Bill Cosby has also been on TV often, but The Cosby Show was one of the top TV comedies of all time. And I listed the characters names in The X-Files, Scully and Mulder, but of course their real names are David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson. They made sci-fi cool again, spawned a spinoff TV show, and are about to do their second movie. Even their reruns still do well on television.

I love Oprah as well as ellen too. I can not choose between the two of them. I feel both of them are remrkable in themselves. I love Bill cosby too-he is so good with kids and really nmakes them spit out their wisdom pearls with so much ease. He is a king of his art too in his own way.

Soleil Moon Frye. She was Punky Brewster. I doubt she's in the contest but I totally loved her when I was a little kid. I think most little girls wanted to be like Punky Brewster. She was all alone with nothing but a dog but she was the most confident girl ever. Something girls really need to be, confident in who they are.
Of the ones you mentioned I'd go with Lucille Ball too. Because who didn't love lucy, the show was I Love Lucy after all!

Lucy is an icon for me and I think for clean, American television. She was humorous and a classy lady back in her day. My mom raised me on Lucy and that is one thing we shared that is still very important to us. I read several of the books about Lucy before I was even in middle school. I just think the show brought wholesome fun to many families and you know she has to be an icon if people my age and younger dig her, even now. I know Roseanne isn't liked by many people, but I also used to love that show. It featured a family that was like many that I know. Struggling to make ends-meet and blue collar. I still watch it. Lucy gets my top vote though.
