On December, Christmas lights are all around. You will always see Christmas lights that are being decorated outside or inside the house, in the garden, more so with the Christmas tree. However, Christmas light is also one of the main reasons why there are accidents such as fire and burns. This is not common anymore, as this always happened and being reported in the news every Christmas. Do you think it is necessary for us to put Christmas light during Christmas? Do you think Christmas Day will be incomplete if there are no Christmas lights being decorated inside or outside your home?

Hi braveheart07. Christmas lights will never be erased on our way of celebrating christmas. Eventhough many accidents happens because of these lights we would still want to put some than celebrate without it. As what my mom always say you must put some christmas lights outside and inside the house for it to look happy. A house without some lights will look dull and lonely. Well, you wouldn't want your neighbors to think you don't like christmas do you? Maybe then people should always have to be careful with their electricity, and they have to buy only the original christmas lights and not the fake ones. Thankyou for this discussion.

Hello cnergy^_^… That is true. Christmas light is already part in Christmas Day. It gives beauty and would make the surroundings much alive and happier. You're right that we have to patronize the original one to prevent from overheating and short circuit that could lead to fire and accidents. Have a wonderful day ahead of you!

It's not a must in my opinion. Everyone has their own traditions for Christmas and some people include decorating their house within the tradition and others don't bother. I know when I was growing up, it was part of our tradition so it's probably something I would continue with when I have children.

Necessary? No I don't think so. It seems to be a tradition that many follow, but certainly not a necessity or an obligation. People that do it should really be really careful with it. Check everything from wires to bulbs to any combustible stuff around all those lights and electricity. The ones that don't. have no reason to feel guilty or bad about it. I tend to believe that avoiding accidental fires and saving money in electricity is quite smart anyways :) The truth is that Christmas is not about little bulbs, Christmas trees, decorations... sure they look cute and all, but it's not all what Christmas is about - or not at all :)

I have not had Christmas lights, inside or outside since I was a child.Istill worry about faulty ones on Christmas trees causing fires. I still decorate for Chritmas, mainly inside.

of course, it is always necessary have Christmas lights. The occasion wouldn't seem complete without it. The lights with its different colors give an atmosphere of Christmas in the air especially at night. In our house as early as September 1 my father starts to put up the christmas tree and the lights. AS for the lights, we make sure to buy at the malls and not the cheap ones being sold just anywhere. This ensures that these lights passed quality control and is not prone to cause fires.

I grew up with only a Christmas tree w/ lights. We never decorated the outside until I was old enough to design, purchase, and decorate it myself. I am a married now and I live in an apartment w/ my husband. We have a lit tree as well as lit garland and wreaths on our french porch doors. We're moving into a house hopefully before Christmas, and I intend on decorating the outside with lit garland and wreaths again. I love lights and decoration, but that is not what Christmas is about, so, no, I do not think that lights are necessary.

That is a good question. A little ligth would be enough to feel the Christmas speciality. I doubt that people can be stopped in it. They do not even think on the energy saving, what is a really big problem for the whole world.

Hi braveheart07! For me, it is not really necessary to put Christmas lights during Christmas and Christmas will not be incomplete either without one. However, we still put Christmas lights during Christmas holidays because it has been our tradition but we always check on the circuits because I do agree with you that many accidents happen because of it. And we always turn it off before we sleep. Take care and have a nice day.
