This may sound weird but I listen to oldies music while i am writing. I love the oldies. I am only in my early twenties but I some how got stuck in a time warp before my time. When I was growing up, my dad always listend to the oldies because this is what he grew up listening too. I grew to love it and now when I am writing, I listen to it.
Writing is the only time that I do this. When I am driving, I listen to either rock or alternative. I guess the oldies music calms me and helps with my writing.
So, what kind of music do you listen to while writing?
I am a huge Elvis Presley fan.

I do not usually listen to music while I am writing. I have to really concentrate, but sometimes if I do not have to do so, I like classical, especially opera. I really would like to get some period piece, because there are characters who act as if it is the 11th Century. I really should get a Cd of Gregorian chants and put them on the computer. That would get me really in the mood.

I do not listen to any music while I'm writing, because this distracts me from what I'm doing. I cannot concentrate, and so the result of the material that I want to come up with, does not really come up. In order to have the best result, I make sure that when I write, I am in a quiet place where I can release my creativity in writing.

I rarely listen to music while writing, I find that I get too distracted with music on. I start getting "into the groove" of the music and next thing I know I'm not thinking about writing anymore. I tend to do paiting to music, cause I paint to the rhythm.
For writing I ususaly turn the TV on, on low volum, and write, It's like background noise, that isn't distracting because I have no interest in it, so it allows me to write peacefully.

Oddly enough, I usually don't listen to music while writing. I may do some other random things, but listening to music while writing really isn't one of those things. I usually have the tv on in the background, or nothing at all. It really just depends on what is going on that day and what other's are doing around me.

I don't actually listen to any while I'm writing on here b/c it's too distracting. But when I'm collecting cross stitch charts or playing around or sorting files I listen to my musicbox on my profile and I have a chinese song I really like...although I don't speak Mandarin it is a beautiful song with a lovely melody. It's by Guang Liang and is called Fairytale. I'm going to try to have it added to my musicbox.

My favorite music to listen to while writing is Celtic, New Age, Native Flutes, Enigma, Easy Listening. I have a passion for the melodic, hauntingly beautiful chords from music that has a feeling of ancient echoes. Enya, Clinnad, Voices of Celtic Woman, some of Mike Oldfield's music. It all 'attunes' me to the Muses and give me a wonderful creative flow that does enhance my work and help me feel relaxed at the same time.
So...there you go. We all have our preferences and thanks for letting me share mine with you.
Cheers,
Raia
