Now, this is interesting, indeed. Should I take your words literally or should I assume you're pulling a "Colbert" here yourself? I mean, you say you like his show, OK, that's straight-forward enough; you usually agree with him on a lot of different views - does that mean you usually agree with what he actually says or you "get" that he's really being quite sarcastic when he talks about poltics and the like? He's only entering the race in his home state of South Carolina as the "Native Son" and he claims he wants to be on both the Democratic and Republican ballots. So, in answer to your question, of course he isn't serious about running for President, he's running in one state as the "character" he portrays on his comedy show. But as far as if he could run the country, heck he could do a better job than the "comedian" in office now! Annie

I do understand him and his show, it is just that sometimes I think he takes things a little to far. I didn't really think he was serious but with colbert you can never really know what he is up to and what he is really thinking.

I agree with anniepa, but would like to add that ballot access is a SERIOUS major issue and Colbert has brought that issue to the forefront, and rightly so. He hit the nail on the head re: that particular aspect of it, and in that, one can take him seriously

I think they should have let him run in SC. Would have been good for the politician to laugh a bit.

I heard that they would not let him onto the ballot in 08 so he has urged all of his supporters to do a write in vote for him and see what comes up.

It's old news now, anyhow, Colbert was making fun of the way politicians announce their candidatures, usually going on National Television and saying they will consider running for president and the decision will be made available at another time - a day or two some cases, what a soul searching. Then for many reason he just couldn't get into the ballots. Was he serious? No, just a fake reality show about politics. That's Colbert :)
