I have tried for years to figure out how E-bay works. I have looked at it several times and am lost. How do you start an aucion? How do they notify you if someone wants to buy your item? Can anyone explain this site to me in terms I can understand? I would like to try to sell some things there but I go to the site and am totally lost? I would appreciate all the help I can get. Thanks

An ebay account is relatively easy to set up, but complicated to explain, so it is best if you ask them directly. I do know that you pay them after you sell your items. I believe the bill you at the end of the month. Also, unless you only plan to make sales once in a while, you will have to set up a premier PayPal account to receive your payments. You can either set up a separate PayPal account for it or convert your current account. PayPal will deduct fees for sales on ebay, unless you are only making a one time sale.

Actually, having a premier account has nothing to do with being verified. I have had a premier account for years, but was only verified this year. A premier account is a neither personal nor business, but kind of both. You can get this information from the PayPal website. One thing everyone should keep in mind. If you have too many incoming transactions (payments) PayPal will require you to change your account to a business account. If you retain it as a personal account, it could be subject to a hold being placed on it, and that's a lot of hassle. It is best to set up a separate account for receiving payments for work performed or items sold to make sure that you are within PayPal guidelines. One note, PayPal is owned by ebay, so you should get the most current information directly from them.

Very interesting. I am not sure what a premier paypal account means. How does that differ from the personnel one and the business one? Also. If I read you right. You receive on bill from E-bay a month and that is for their commission and does that include their charges for listing? Just one bill a month for all of it?

lol That's funny because i just started selling stuff on ebay 1 week ago. First and foremost you need to go to www.paypal.com and make an account. Make sure to make it a personal account because they will give you too many fees. Personal accounts are free. second go to the ebay.com website and register a new account. fill in all the info and confirm email. After eveything is ready to go, login to your account and go on the upper right hand corner and clik sell and follow the directions. the directions now are extremely easy they have changed all the format about a week ago. Try to pick the stuff that isn't goignt o be so expensive like, extra pics and such. Try to keep it as simple as possible, so you can get the most profit out of it. Hope that helps somewhat. goodluck :)

Thanks for the info. I already have a personal paypal account so that part is taken care of. How does E-bay get their commission? Do they deduct it from your profit or do you pay them after you make a sale? Again, thanks so much for the help

ok the listing fees are taken out of your paypal account or bank account you have on file every month. I have only been doing EBay for alittle over 2 weeks now but I heard they take out 4% of your sale price not shipping, but I never remember them taking it out after I transfered funds to my bank account?? Do they also take the 4% out along with the listings fees every month??

hi, i have done ebay for years. it can look and feel overwhelming in the beginning. my advice would be, look around your house, find one item that you don't want anymore and put that one on. take your time, spend as much time as you need to put in on. then, before you know it, three months from then, you could easiliy and comfortably have many many items on there. you can check who is writing you with questions in the "my ebay" section. while you are putting in an item up for sale, if you do get nervous or have a question, there is live help that is available while you are doing it and they will help you step by step. not a lot of people know that, but that will really help if you need it. good luck. word of also advice, after you start selling, it is adictive, lol and everything you see, you want to see if you can sell it LOL, :-)
