If you can find a set of cirle kniting looms you can make hats with very little thought at all. Depending on how much time you have you can easily complete a baby sized hat in a "casual" hour or two and an adult hat in a day...and by casual I mean just a slow relaxed pace with interruptions. I found my set at Wal-mart for $12 or $13 dollars. It's a set of 4 rings in blue, red, green and yellow. I don't remember now which color corresponded with which ring but the small one was for baby hats, the next size was for youth hats, the next was for adult hats and the largest could be used for tote bags and shawls. I could also "knit" scarves and blanket squares on any of them even though there is a different loom set specifically made for that.

Sounds like knitting rather than crochet. I don't knit, I'm afraid.

No, no not at all! That's whats great about it. The finished product LOOKS like you knitted it but all you have to do is wrap the yarn around the rings and then loop them over each other. There's no actual knitting involved, it's really more like weaving LOL. I don't know how to knit either but I have made scarves, hats, a few blankets and even a baby bunting suit just by using these rings.

I am so glad.. I tell ya about.com is loaded with good stuff, all kinds of crafts and everything else you can think of. They are always on my 'must check here' list when I'm looking for info and ideas, especially especially when it comes to any kind of crafts. And thanks so much for the BR nod.
