How else would we have met?

I first went online in about 1991, since then I have met some of the most wonderful people who have turned out to be friends. Some as far as Australia and Europe. I remember the first internet "meet" I attended which was held in Las Vegas, Nevada. I am still great friends with several of those people, and have since been to other various meetings.
I often wonder if these people would have found their way into my life some other way.
Today it is not uncommon, in fact it is happening more and more, that people meet online marry and live happily ever after.

I know that the most important tool for expanding my social circle has been the internet. I too have attended chat meets and it has enabled me to make friends with people I would not normally meet. I have become friends with some in different countries and more commonly in different states. I even met a friend who only lived a mile away yet I had not crossed paths with in real life.
Besides traditional friendships I have also turned to the internet to meet my current significant other. It is no longer thought of as "desparate" but yet another tool to enhance our lives.

Mochabean, I totally agree with you, with regard to the internet dating. In many ways I feel it offers more to the prospects of finding the right person, and one can do so without having to leave your home. The bar scene and clubs for some are not an option for so many people today.

Hey Dicelady,
We were both new to the internet when we met in 1991.....You were there to met me when I came back from Hawaii and we had a great time smoking at the airport in LA, Deny's Resturant, and in windows on line..
For over two years we talked on line almost every night....We still do but not as often as we did back then...But you have always been there when I needed someone to talk to and even if we don't talk every night like we did before I know your only a phone call away.
We have gone through the good times and the bad times together and that's very important in our friendship....Guess we are more like sister's than internet buddy's.....
You always have made me feel like that and you really don't know how much of a friend you have been.
Just wish that all of the people on the net could know you as well as I do....
Just wish that we lived closer than we do that way we could spend more time together....But Vegas is a little far from you....
It's not many people who let strangers put their fingers in there hubby's soup........

Everyone else in the restaurant had already put their finger in your hubbies soup.... I thought it was some sort of new hawaiian ritual... I put my finger in his soup so that I would not be considered rude :)
