buffet means free and easy.. eat as much as u can for a certain price.. BUt how?? do u take each of everything to try or just go ahead take all ur favourite food?? or are u someone who will just take the expensive stuffs?? ANd will we just take wat we can eat or take all we can and put it on the table, dun care can finish all or not?? :) For me, i will take the things i never eat b4, follow by my favourite stuffs ;) and i dun believe in taking too much things on my table because clearing up will be very troublesome for the waiters and waitresses ;)

haha...i just take a little of everything! hehehe
but if i find one food good i add some...hehehe
but sometimes i don't get food that i know how to cook...i like to try new ones.
and i don't usually eat much of the desserts...
i remember one time when we go there with my friends..actually we are with our husbands...i wonder how she manage to eat that much of cakes slices...hehehe knowing that she already eat lots of rice...i just want to think that she really make the best out of her money! hehehe

Trying a bit of everything should be the right way for buffets!! lol =D BEcause that's the fastest way to determine if the money spent is worth it or not.. haha =D BY taking all those food we are familiar with, i might as well eat by the roadside when i get it cheaper with better quality right?? hehe
Same like u, if i happen to find good food, i will definitely be going for more, maybe 2nd round, 3rd round til i'm really really full.. lol =D I do take deserts as well, depending on what they are offering.. hehe
Your fren is eating rice for buffets?? lol =D IT's completely wrong because rice wil fill her up real fast and by then, she wont be able to eat rest of the available food.. haha =D If possible, i will avoid cakes because it only make me wanna 'throw up' when i'm very full.. lol =D
I guess your fren is really a big eater!! lol

Cakes is a big no no for me, unless i really am able to eat somemore.. IF not, i will rather be eating more food instead.. hehe BUt if there's any tiramisu, i will be sure to eat it first because it's my favourite cake!! haha
Well, buffets are different from a normal meal.. It does not justify the price we are paying, just to make us full from rice?? haha =D I will opt for more dishes to fill me up instead.. hehe
Going for seafood will be the best choice, because there are alot of good and expensive stuffs being served!! haha

well according to her, she really like cakes! and that's her favorite and so even if she's already full , she still eat little by little ! hehehe
actually we do have rice when we are eating in a buffet coz you know, meal for us is not complete without rice! hehehe but when i am there i just limit my rice intake coz i make my self full with other dishes there...
and sometimes, i don't eat some foods there just by seeing its appearance...hehehe
if its me and my husband, we always go for seafoods and veggies...hahaha

I attend parties or eat in any restaurants be buffet or the normal servings. In case of buffet which eat all you can. I never eat any food that is being serve in front of me. I take only a small portion of food, then smell first before eating tasting it to my tongue before taking another portion. I do not even like to put many food as over eating is not good for me as I have a fast metabolism it could only make me goes frequently to the comfort room as different mix of food is not alright for my appetite. Though, a balance portion of food would be enough for me without overloading of food..

Smell the food?? lol =D What happens if u are gonna be taking those food from the trays?? are u gonna smell them first before picking up onto your plate?? haha =D
PLus, some food might not smell good, but they do really taste good!! Thus, it's important to be trying all kinds of food, but in small portions, so as not to waste it.. hehe
Fast metabolism is good as it helps in losing weight.. hehe

of course not in the tray as I have to smell the small portion of food in my plate before eating it..
I really like to taste food that look appealing, smell and taste good that complete packaging for me...
Most of the time when a food smell bad it even taste nasty which I hate to eat..though, their may be an exemption in case to case basis...
that is why it is not good for me to eat much as I often find myself in embarrassing situation when I either suffer from diarrhea or from dyspepsia...

i don't really like going to buffets unless i am with someone. i'm always too shy to go to the table and get food all by myself. ^.^ but when i do, with someone, i take a serving of all my favorite food. LOL but i'm careful on choosing which to pick because i have to scrutinize first (just by looking!) the ingredients of the dish because i am allergic to some food like seafoods and chicken. ^__^;;
but when it comes to dessert, i take all that i can. LOL i love sweet and cold desserts!

yup, i'm allergic to chicken and seafoods and other stuffs. although i wasn't born with this allergy. i just had it when i was in college after i ate a strawberry milkshake with pancakes. before that i loved chicken and i was starting to love shrimps. i don't know what happened. i was rushed into a hospital then. ^__^;;

For me, naturally I want to get my money worth too.
I have friends who go to buffets and take just one plate. And the plate was not even overflowing.
Unless there are things there that can't be had elsewhere, I think it is such a waste of money for them.
I usually go a few rounds and each round, I would take a bit of each food item I think I would like to eat. I don't go for the expensive stuffs solely. To begin with, I may not even like them - e.g raw oysters. I have some friends who love that a lot and since they are relatively more expensive, they would take a lot (and end up going to the toilet in the middle of the meal lol).
But I always try to finish what I take. I think it is inconsiderate and wrong to waste good food. If you think you cannot finish, don't take it.

I don't eat oysters too but I will get the seafood if it is nice. Where do you usually go for buffets?
I don't like the fining of uneaten food. I go to a restaurant to enjoy myself. Don't come and play disciplinary master on me and try to fine me. It would holy piss me off.
I feel this is a personal responsibility. I don't waste food so don't stick a policy there to spoil my day.

Yeah, i guess alot of buffet places knows about food wastage and thus they start to imposed a fine for food wastage.. Every 100 grams, there will be a minimum of $5-$10 fine.. haha
But still that wun stop me from going for buffets, and i'm more like your frenz, taking the expensive stuffs 1st like salmon and seafood except for oysters but i dun really eat them.. haha

I love buffets, but I dislike the greediness of buffet situation by inconsiderate eaters. Their plates will be mountainous full and worst off, they can't finish all the food. You are right, really troublesome for the waiters, waitresses.

I love buffets! They are cheap and of course, there's a wide variety of food to choose from without any worries about the cost of taking and eating too much! Lol, I remember I used to go for buffets every now and then in my Secondary school times, and majority of these times, I would go alone as none of my friends love to eat buffets and I am the only one!
For me, I will take a lot of food at one shot, as I am there alone and I don't fancy the idea of walking from my table to the buffet table every now and then. Usually I would walk up to the buffet table once and take all that I want to eat and then sit down and enjoy my food. Only when I am feeling not satisfied or full after finishing all those on my table then I will go back a 2nd time to take some more food.
The sequence in how I take my food is that I will take every single dish that is out on the buffet table, but of course, it is all in very small portions (like maybe 1 bite or two and you will be to finish up that dish!). This would ensure that I had tried every single dish out there before deciding what suits my appetite and what doesn't. If I really like one of the dish, I would then walk back to the buffet table and take more of those dish.
Of course, if I had been to that restaurant more than once and know exactly what suits my tastebuds, I would then just go and pile up my plates on that dish and ignore all the others. Lol. That being said, if there is any other new dishes I had never try before, I will take those but of course in just very small portions for me to determine if I like those dishes or not.
And weird to say, although I have a very small appetite, when it comes to buffets, my appetite becomes very big. And I will be able to finish up everything that I had taken. Even if I could not, I will just sit in the restaurant until I could. Lol, afterall buffets allows us to be in there just eating for up to 6-8 hours depending on the crowd in that restaurant.
I just love Hans River, and is craving for it! Yum!

Alone?? I will never eat a buffet alone, because it's gonna be so boring to stay there for hrs and just eat without talking and laughing with frenz :(
6-8 hrs?? Are u sure that it's allowed?? hehe =D For some places, the buffets are separated into lunch and dinner timings, so there will be a certain period of time whereby the place is closed.. hehe
Well, i dun normally try new dishes as i'm a limited food eater, meaning, i will only eat certain food that's to my taste and liking.. haha =D BUt if i still can eat more, only then i will start to explore new things, if not, i find it a waste of money to be eating the same things over and over again.. haha
Drooling?? FInd the nearest Han's river and have go buffet now, but make sure to find a fren to accompany u ^_^

NObody is alone ^_^ U still have yourself as an accompany, and sometimes thinking back, shopping alone may not be a bad thing after all, as there's nobody to rush u, nobody to make sacastic remarks when they themselves are jealous of something.. hehe ^_^
BUt when it comes to eating, it's indeed quite bored to find oneself alone when u are done eating, because that's the time to talk about fun :( BUt it's surprising that u dun have much frenz?? It should not be the case, and maybe u should bait them out instead, so that u will have accompany and that they wun feel cheated by u too.. hehe ^_^
SO far, i have not tried HAn's river yet, but is the food there nice?? hehe =D There was once whereby i keep going to V'illage at heeren, till the manager and staff knows me, but now it's closed due to bad business, and too bad, i have to find new eating place to fill up the 'space bigger than the universe' of my tummy.. lol

Lol, I am very sure that that is allowed! I did it before.. and of course, you must be really pallies with those servers and cashiers and they will close one eye (also depending on whether or not the restaurant is crowded). There was a time when I was 14 (that's 8 years ago!), and where Hans Rivers is not that popular, to the extent that there is nobody in the restaurant at all, we have that privellege to eat for 6-8 hours! I guess that the owner of that restaurant also wanted to make it seem like it is a popular choice or something??
That is how most people eat Buffet. Lol, make that the majority of the population in Singapore! But me being me, I am just too plain lazy to make many trips to and fro, so I will pile my plate up with the quantity I think I would be able to finish and off I go to enjoy my food!
I guess most people have different preferences in life. I don't talk when I am eating, and only talk when I am finished with my food! So, it doesn't really bother me too much to be eating alone, and well just doing my own stuff while I am at it! Maybe it's my upbringing that instill in my mind that talking while eating is very rude.. But again, it gets boring sometimes after I am done eating and I realise that I have to go shopping alone, or to go back alone. But then, I am used to being alone, I guess..

When I was on holiday in Rhodes this year we had a buffet meal every night, and I loved trying out the different Greek foods, so I had a bit of everything, the foods I liked I had more of, I usually went back twice to have an extra helping. The meats were delicious, I never wasted any food, I only took what I could eat and after a day of swimming and walking I was very very hungry so I enjoyed the food.

Hello there. I just went to the Swissotel Merchant Court Buffet located at Clarke Quay. It's famous for it's Durian Puree =D
When it comes to buffet, I only eat food that I like. My friends often say I lose out in buffet because I do not eat the expensive food like oysters, raw sashimi and etc. I take a bit of the main course and then I'll start eating lots of desserts. I usually go for Chocolate desserts. As for the Merchant Court buffet I just went to, I ate a lot of the Durian Puree. It feel so sinful. =P

When i go to a buffet, I usually get keep grabbing food and keep stuffing myself. I was already fully prepared to be bloated so my only concern is how many plates I could eat before I don't feel good. Once in Macau, I stuffed myself with so much food only to find a very tasty dessert I didn't get to try yet. ~.~ Next time I guess

From then on, i learnt to pick my food slowly, and the key to eating more is to eat slowly.. hehe ^_^ Hopefully, next time, u will get to eat that very tasty dessert.. hehe

I try to eat as much as I can during a buffet. Usually in small portions so I get to taste everything. But then I end up being stuffed, tired and not wanting to move.
I usually start with soup and junk food (potato wedges, spring rolls, chicken wings), then sushi, then grilled stuff (kebabs, chicken, shrimp) and dim sum, then things I've never tried before that look good and finally dessert (ice cream, cake, jello.)
I try to finish everything on my plate... because even if I have already paid for it, it's still a waste if I don't eat it all.

Hi, nun2349. I will just pile my plate up with a certain amount of food that I know that I can manage eating. And once I eat this slowly, I will get me some dessert or a salad at the end of the course. I try not to eat too fast and too much. I want to leave room in my stomach for the goodies that I so love!

Hi Kun, what's with the new avatar, brings out the cuteness & friendliness in you for sure. One of my favourite movie and song for some time....well...it was back then.
I certainly would like to feel well fed and the value worth paying for! But nowadays I have become mellow and nice in a way that I eat what I find is interesting and like you..food that I haven't tasted before, exotic ones..uhmmmm.
Then slowly go to the main course and desserts the last. But I do attempt to go a few rounds and have more on the food that I like. I would usually offer to share my plate with the rest of my friends so in a way to share the joy and not thought of as glutton...lol.
Sadly to say, there is still people who pile up their food to the highest they can on their plates and the rudeness of rushing to get their food first.
It will be nice one day, the eatery places could provide a device that could help their customers to measure & plan a proper meal. Is there such place?
Cheers and have a good weekend!

YEah, buffets are my favourite hangout places to pass time too, and if possible, i will try exotic food if i have been going to the same place for sometime, so it's good for a change once in a while.. lol =D There will be times when i will stack up my food on a plate, but those are my favourite food and i'll be to be able to eat them all.. lol =D As for things i'm trying for the 1st time, i will only take just 1-2 pieces, but too bad among my frenz, we hardly share around, as all us are big eaters.. lol =D

That's a noble trait..I don't mean as a big eaterbut to help others. Sometimes when I have a craving I do eat a lot until I have enough and it would be some time again to reach for the same food.
But in a buffet, lot's to taste and try and I am so grateful by then to be able to enjoy so many kind of wonderful food. I can truly understand it is hard to let go that instant natural high for some people
I think we would respect and enjoy the food more if we indulge in consideration.
Cheers,

I like going to buffets because you have such a varity of foods to choose from. However, I try to be careful not to take more than I know I can eat. I don't like to waste good food that someone else would have eaten and is now being thrown in the garbage. I hate when you see people with heaping piles of food and then they leave most of it behind. I try and take smaller portions at a time and go back more often. That way I know how much food I'm really going to eat.

When I was still in the Philippines, my officemates and I love to go to a buffet restaurant. If we have a plan to go there, we usually have it at noon. What we did was, we just eat a very light breafast or just fruits, so that we will be able to enjoy the food at the buffet resto. And what will end up happening, we didn't usually eat dinner because we are so full at lunch. Since we've been there frequently, we know already what our favorite foods there, so we ate them first. We just took a small amount of each food at a time so that we are sure that we will be able to eat if not all but more of the foods there. That buffet restaurant was one of the very beautiful and kinda affordable place in the city. They have more or less 20 different foods, desserts, etc. Wow! I am already feeling hungry now just imagining it.LOL
