Cleft Lip and Palate

My daughter who is now 14 was born with a bilateral cleft lip and palate. Needless to say I freaked out when i had her. It didnt show up on the sonogram and I was blamin myself thinkin that there was something I did for her to be born that way. Well come to find out its runs on my side of the family and it happens every 5th generation. She has had 5 suregerys and is beautiful. Shes had braces for 3 years now and the orthodontist is talkin about surgery again. Shes handled everything really great she just thinks its cool that if there is something she dont like all she has to do is tell her surgeron and he can fix it..lol...i told her its not always that easy. Has anyone else had a child born with a cleft lip or know of someone who has? Id love to hear from you!!!

My sister's baby will be born with bilateral cleft lip an palate. She found out when she was 6 months pregnant, the baby will be born on the 14 Feb 2011. Two weeks. She lost her job, and do not have medical aid. The problem now is she needs so much money for the docters and can't get a loan any where!! I wish that her only worry would be Paul, the baby, but it looks like money will be her biggest worry........

my officemate has a baby girl with a cleft lip. he was sad at first but there are free surgeries to fix it so he availed of one and had his baby operated. now his baby looks fine and cute. not to mention she's really a darling and my officemate just love her so much. ^__^
