Starting home child care...

My family is moving soon because my husband is getting transferred. I have a young son now, and we have another child on the way, so I want to be able to be at home with my kids. However, I still need to make money so I can help support my family. I plan to start in-home child care, but I need to do a little research first. I am CPR qualified, and I have an abundance of experience with taking care of children. Plus, I love kids! That's why I am perfectly happy being an at-home mom. I was thinking of taking a child care class or two, just to make sure I'm completely up-to-date on all the regulations and all, and any extra ideas I can get. I plan to call around some and find out what the out-in-town care centers charge for different ages. What I want to ask is, what do you think are fair prices to charge for different ages when doing in-home child care?

I used to pay $450 a month for fulltime care for one child. The provider supplid the snacks and I packed a lunch for my son to take. I know in my area, there is a shortage of night daycare providers for people who have to work graveyard shift. I think people would pay more for a smaller, in home daycare, rather than a big daycare center because there would be more one on one attention. Good luck with your daycare. it is a much needed service.
