Do you hang up on telemarketers?

The most annyoing ones when you answer and there is a message saying "please hold for a very important call". This time of the year is the worst with all of the political calls. I understand that some people have to do this job for a living, and I try and be as polite as possible as I try and get them off the phone as quick as possible. Does the do not call list really work?

It depend on how the telemarketer to intruduce thier product's, of course his / she is silly i will tell them not thank's be polite on them just they do only there work. or either take thier contact number just pretend that you will call them back.so you will not hang up to them and save your time.

I do hang up on some telemarketers specially those who insists or persists after I've told them that I'm not interested with what they're offering.

We don't get those recordings here. We get a lot of computer dialed calls where there is no one on the other end of the phone, at least not after the first "hello". In most cases it is the telemarketing company trying to find out via computer when it is a good time to call, when someone is home. In other cases, if you say "hello" enough times there will eventually be someone on the other end. I now hang up if there is no response after the first "hello". When I do get telemarketers, I say, "I'm not interested," as soon as they identify themselves and then hang up. I don't wait for them to continue because I have found that when I listen to their schpeel and then say I'm not interested, they will keep trying. Then I get angry and say, "What part of no don't you get?" or "I said I'm not interested." I hate doing this to fundraising companies but I am so strapped that every dollar is important to me. The best is using my call display. Usually there are no company names attached but the phone numbers themselves (that is, their area codes) give them away. If I am home alone I won't answer. Other times I yell out to the kids not to answer the phone.

I get alot of those phone calls at work. When the recording says they want me to hold, I usually just put them on hold for a couple of minutes, and then hang up. Our employees are not supposed to be getting calls form bill collectors(which is what these usually are), so I don't waste time on them. I know they are only doing their job, but I don't need to be a part of it. lol
