union dues and political phone calls

Do part of your union dues pay for someone to call and tell you who to vote for? How about all of the color brochures and flyers, not to mention all of the postage. I dislike that part of my union dues go toward all of this, especially the phones during dinner time. They actually ask who I am going to vote for.

Actually that is what my union used to do as well. That was with my previous employer, I didn't like paying union dues because a) they didn't pay us all equally, b) the people that worked for the union sucked. The only thing that was good was you can put the union dues on your taxes ;)). Other than that, union dues such big time, and most of the unions don't do anything. However there are times when they actually do.
