What do you do with your leftover food, do you rehash it and make another meal or side-dish from it, or do you just throw it away.
I tend to rehash as much as possible, but there again if I carn't rehash it there is always the dogs that can eat it, if it suitable for them.
What do you do with your leftover food??
Let us know any recipes that you may have using leftovers.

Most of the time whenever I have left overs depending on how much it is I will usually send my husband to work with some and I will take the rest with me and we have it for lunch. If it is alot then I will make another meal out of it. Like if it's some hamburgers I will heat them up and chop them and make spaghetti. If we have spaghetti then I will turn the leftover meat sauce into sloppy joes. Then if we have left over meat from the sloppy joes then I turn that into some chili for hot dogs. The list goes on and on.

I will most of the time just reheat the leftovers . If the leftovers can be combined, I will combine them to make it into a dish by itself. For leftover veggie,I'd heat them up in a skillet and top with eggs. Cover and simmer until eggs are set. You now have Poached Eggs Over Greens.

well, not all leftover food can be made into a new one and they are better of for the dogs to eat but still you have to be very careful on what you feed tyour dogs because not all leftover food is good for the dogs.it is nice that there are some of us who thought of re-cycling some of our leftovers, especially at this time of frugality.

I have leftovers a lot. I try to make one big meal, and then whatever is left goes in the fridge for the next day. If I have a turkey, I'll use some of the turkey for dinner, some for sandwiches the next day, and maybe make a casserole or some turkey vegetable soup with whatever is left. Sometimes I'll freeze leftovers and keep them until I need them again. I try to get 2-3 meals from whatever I make, because meat is expensive, and you can do a lot with it by adding vegetables, rice/pasta/potatoes.

A lot of the time I just end up making too much, which means someone in our house will end up taking it for lunch the next day. A great saving from having to fork out every day for a meal.
However, if there's not enough for a whole meal, it's easy to rehash, add new things, or make it into something completely different, which is where the creative side comes into the equation.
- You can make a nice stew from leftover pasta with a tin of tomato soup and leftover vegies, even chuck some salami in for taste.
- Cooked meat can be chopped up and sprinkled on a salad with a bit of dressing.
- Any salads can be rehashed by adding a few different items - be daring, add some fruit for an exotic taste: orange, grapes or raisins.

Leftover foods are usually given to pets. But the fact is that we don't find any left overs. That means we serve food only as per the need. I really hate leftovers.

It usually doesn't last all that long around here. I do tend to cool really big meals so when everything gets packed up, there's usually enough to make someone a complete dish for the next day. I stated cooking in bulk a few years ago; trays of lasagna, stuffed cabbage etc. I got smart and started freezing them in smaller quantities; that way I don't have to defrost an entire tray if it's only two or three people eating.

My hubby would never left me throw leftovers away. If there is not enough for another meal for the two of us then I will just have it for lunch the following day. Some things taste better the next day so I usually get a nice treat for lunch.

I too try and rehash my meals to make it different, however there are limitations to my imagination in this respect. There are many poor in my country who eat from thrash bins. So whatever is left, I usually tend to give it to them. If it is a dry dish, I break eggs in it and add cheese, coriander, dressings etc and make an omlet for breakfast. Thats as far as i can go. Totally non imaginative, huh. lol

We re-use our Food by storing it in Fridge and re-heating / using it .
But if its taste becomes bad or If it decays,we then throw it away and do not eat it.
Otherwise,I have no qualms about re-using Food .

I will just reheat and eat the leftovers, or like if it is a veggie dish, stir it into rice. I do not really get too creative. If appropriate, I will put salsa, or marinara sauce or alfredo sauce on it to change it up. I will make meat into a salad, cube it, add veggies. I will also take meat, add a suitable sauce, and some cheese, roll it in a tortilla and heat it up, again, pouring salsa or enchilada sauce on top, if I eat it hot. It makes a nice cold sandwich to do the tortilla thing, add shredded lettuce, pickles or olives and roll it up tightly and cut it in two or three pieces.

I am told that it's bad to let food spoil and just throw it away so I do try to make something out of left-overs. I live alone and like to cook so there's always left-overs since i am only the one eating and I don't have a pet dog at home. If i don't feel like rehashing the food i give it my neighbor or to the garbage man.

I try and make another meal or two out of leftovers by re-vamping it. By adding another ingredient or side dish. I also freeze left overs and use them for lunches at work or send them to school with my son. I have a habit of making too much food and we tired of it fast with just the two of us. Freezing things comes in handy on the nights when there is no time to cook and you can take it out of the freezer and throw it in the microwave.
