my semi-annual check up for my stroke is tomorrow, wish me luck....

Tomorrow I will have a major medical assessment of how I am coping with the results of the stroke I suffered in June 2006. This one will be a biggie--almost six hours of being pricked, prodded, tested, checked. The needles are what I hate the most! There'll be quite a few...wish me luck and help me pray they see I'm on the mend and don't need any more needles. Thanks in advance, my myLot family/friends!

I promise, promise, promise to check out the Christmas Elf's website, I do, I do! It's just that I have been too antsy over the tests today. I had them all, save one, where they take about five test tubes of blood and which I hate the most! Hugs back to you, my sweeties! Lotsa love from Granny Siggi {{{{{{{{{{{{gabs/Gissi}}}}}}}}}}}}}

I've been, I've been, I've been! and I love it. I was deeply affected by the posts about the Rescue Doggies, especially the one about Lucky/Happy--I was bawling! But your picture shows you pensive, Gabs--what about a happy face one??? You are too beautiful to not have a smiley face....tell Gissi he looks good in pink! hahahahaha! Now he'll be mad at me! Maybe a stripey sweater in green and red to keep with the Elf motif? Plus a green elf hat with a red pompom? Too cute!!! Love to you both from Granny Siggi {{{{{{{{{gabs/Gissi}}}}}}}}}}

Thanks so much for your prayers, Grandmaof2! They must have worked, because I did not need to have blood drawn (which I really, really hate!). The doctor looked at my vein in the elbow and he said it looked like the walls had collapsed. I told him that's where everybody took blood, and I had an IV stuck there for two weeks when I was in the hospital with the latest stroke. Well, guess what? He looked at my file and saw that they took blood the end of May, and he said it hasn't even been six months yet, so I don't have to suffer. Yaaaay! He did tell me that the tests showed a decline in some mental functions. Heck I could have told him that without the testing, LOL!!! Seriously, he said that they have noticed that people who have had strokes show a marked slide in their mental functions after three to four years since the stroke. Anyway, this old bird's too tough to kick the bucket. Not yet anyway...thanks again, dear friend!

You're hilarious, and I'm glad to see they didn't hurt your sense of humor. Ol' bird nothing girlfriend I see you're the same age I am. We still have some young blood, it's just the countainer that's getting a bit old. I'll be 57 in December. I'm so glad you're doing well. Maybe we do have some good doctors in Canada ? You take care and keep in touch. You're like a breath of fresh air. Shame we're strangers. hehehe Or Not.

Our snow did go but we've had rain the last two days. You ask where I am I'm between Saskatoon Saskatchewan and Edmonton Alberta. Those are the two major cities. Either way I'm about a 3 or 3 1/2 hour drive away from either city When my daughter and I go shopping on our once a year overnight trip we prefer Edmonton, there we only pay one tax. I'm done babbling now. Bye.

I hope you get better and you are more mobile. I will say a prayer for you. I had a friend whose mother had a stroke, and I know how hard it is for someone to get around. I do hope you have someone to visit you and help you with your housework, and that the treatments are successful. Best of luck and try to think of something else while they are sticking you with those horrible needles.

Thank you so much, dear suspenseful! Prayers are always welcome and much needed. I try to do whatever I can with the housework but I tire easily now, I can't do as much as I used to. Being on blood thinners throws me for a loop, so between having a clean house and fainting, it's a no-brainer. I try...thanks again for your thoughtfulness.

I am wishing you a sincere good luck tomorrow! My grandmother had a stroke in April of last year. She never made it back home. She spent awhile in the hospital and then went to a nursing home only to go back and forth a few times. She ended up passing away in a nursing home in June of 2006, 2 months after her stroke. I named my daughter born in January of this year after her.

So sorry to hear about your grandmother! Please accept my condolences. I had my stroke June 25, 2006, two months after your grandma had hers. It's a difficult mountain to climb, but I am just happy to be alive! Congratulations on your baby girl, by the way. That is truly the circle of life! Well, I better turn in, I have to be up early to catch the train to go to St. Mike's Hospital downtown for 9 am. Thanks for your response and nighty-night!

Oh I wish you all the luck, I know how it is not to like needles, I faint at the sight of them, maybe you could prod them a little, a naturapath here in Australia said that if a person has ginger in their system it is impossible to have a stroke, it would be interesting to see what the experts in that area have to say about that...so my thoughts are with you, good luck my friend.

I love ginger! Actually, I always buy a bag of Australian crystallized ginger when we go to the CNE (Canadian National Exhibition) every year. I have to ration them, though, because I am diabetic. Can't win, eh? And thanks for the good wishes!
