What line or part of the story in the alchemist struck you the most?

I've read the alchemist over and over again. The part that really struck me the most was when Santiago realized that he's been half way all over the world just to find the treasure that was just at home.
What about you?

"we contemplate each other and we want each other...and i give it life and warmth and it gives me my reason for living...."
Wow..i liked these lines very much..Sun explaining his feeling towards earth..What a love..To give everything for nothing..In turn earth is giving him a reason for living..I love that way of love.
Also sun is saying if i go near earth every life will be burned out..So feel that love where you can just stand at a distance and watch and yet giving all you have and expecting nothing in return...
I am very much moved by this concept....

Hi nakshathra... I love this as well. When i was young, this did not give me a big impression. I always thought of it as a fairy tale. Now i'm a bit wiser, i realized that this love was the kind of love that surpasses understanding and it transcends.
It's really romantic and sweet when you think about it these days. It gives a perspective on love.

There is a word which is sad by the Englishman many times in the story "maktub" which is not understandable at the beginning but i got it later. maktub means which is written.
I like the part where the story deals with caravan and desert sand and its language.

"Maktub"? I honestly forgot this word since it was last since i read the alchemist. But what was iot about "which is written"? Does it have anything to do with the written laws of the universe and any other teaching associated in the alchemist? Heheh sorry if i asked a complicated question but then I have to recall what the story was about again.

"You must understand that love never keeps a man feom pursuing his destiny. If he abandons that pursiut, it's because it wasn't true love .... love that speaks the Language of the World."
This part i like most because many times when we have to part from our loved ones just for achieveing something this will help u. In fact it did to me.

Hi thanks so much for adding to the comments. Actually, now that I think of it, I think it's something i might be facing so soon. U see, I just graduated and I'm looking for a life of my own. Maybe it's time for me to move out of my family's life so i could start and see what I can do on my own. Maybe this is what this message wants me to think. Thanks

Hio there!
I also got struck with this. At first i kinda felt that it was paolo coelho's way of being creative with words. But I soon realized that what he says is true. If it happens a second time, then you know what to expect nect time.

"Well, then, why should I listen to my heart?
"Because you will never again be able to keep it quiet. Even if you pretend not to have heard what it tells you, it will always be there inside of you, repeating to you what you're thinking about life and about the world."
Can I write the whole book. The entire book struck me, big time!

What I found really really striking me is when he ask the wind to create a strom. It tells you that if you really wanted something and you called all the forces of nature they would come together to help you reach your goal. The same dialogue was used in a recent Indian movie.

Hi I can't help but notice what you wrote down. In another way, it's as if this line is saying that, whatever you do, you must pray- it's only then that things in the universe start to change. Another way of saying it is ask and you shall receive right? It's kinda similar to the law of attraction.
