Once again I am awake at 3:00 in the morning. So I decieded to have a nice big piece of my favorite pumpkin pie! And of course I put some whipped cream on it. When I went to the store today they had alot of pumpkin pies its that time of the season. And of course I couldnt resist buying one. Do you like pumpkin pie? Do you put whipped cream on it?

Hi my favorite cyber sister...I'm still awake too, but that's normal for me...as I usually don't go to bed until four or five in the morning...are you okay??? Hope you're not too much in pain and that's why you're up... :(
While I love pumpkin pie, I prefer my sweet potato pies that I make around Thanksgiving...yum...I'm going to have a "snack" before I settle in...I just took my bath, ready to watch one of my DVD movies for awhile, while eating my snack....uh, some oatmeal with sliced up apples, raisins, sprinkle of cinnamon and sugar--but hey, I could come over and share a slice of that pie and yes, I'll take it with lots of whipped cream :)

Hi Terry, I'm sorry that you are having trouble sleeping.
I also love pumpkin pie, but I don't usually eat the crust, and just a little whipped cream please. Do you like other pumpkin flavored things like ice cream, coffee cream, pudding? I have had all three and they are really good. The pumpkin flavored coffee mate is really good.

Pumpkin pie isn't quite my favorite pie, but it's pretty high up on the list. And yes, I like it with whipped cream. I also like it in the middle of the night, or for breakfast. Actually, my husband and I recently had a pumpkin pie, and I kept finding myself eating it for breakfast. I don't know why.
Technically I guess my favorite pie is sweet potato pie. I don't know why, but it just always has been. I'm awfully fond of pecan too though. Maybe I just like pie! =P

I've never had a taste for Pumpkin (or sweet potatoe) pie. I go for pecan and cherry. Those are the best ones!! My grandpa used to like minced meat pie. I never tried it because it looked gross. I never knew what was in it. Minced meat sounded like jumbled up pork, chicken, and beef chunks left over from something else, baked into a pie crust with some brown slimy goo. I never knew, and still don't.

I love pumpkin pie! Growing up, none of my family liked it, so I had to wait until the big family holiday get togethers to get a slice of it. I love pumpkin ice cream, pumpkin egg nog, and even pumpkin whipped cream. And I don't usually like whipped cream at all. But pumpkin makes everything better. LOL

Well we do have one thing in common I can't sleep either. I have a sleeping disorder that's for sure. Now pumpkin pie
and I, let's just say we do not go hand in hand. My husband loves it and yes he likes the whip cream too. GAG. Actually I am not a person to like sweets. I could very eazily never have any. The only pie I can even eat is apple, lemon and the odd cream pie. Right now all I want is about 5 hours sleep, Not going to happen!!! Till next time Take Care.

I love pumkin pie. But there are some pumkin pies, I don't like, there is a certain kind spice that a lot pumkin pies have too much of. I can't figure out what it is though. Also, at Trader Joe's, there is a delicious pumpkin cake :)

I love Pumpkin Pie smothered, totally smothered in whipped cream where you can't even see the pie, lol!...this sure is the time of the year for it, and...Pumpkin Candles, Pumpkin Muffins, Pumpkin Bread, Pumpkin Cookies, and of course, the old famous carved out Pumpkin!...I think we should call October "Pumpkinber" instead.

I like pumpkin pie. And of course what pie doesn't test better with whipped cream? My oldest daughter loves pumpkin pie. One year I asked her what kind of cake she wanted for her birthday. She told me she didn't want cake. She wanted pumpkin pie!

I love pies too. Although I have never had a pumpkin pie with cream. I enjoy main meal pies even more than desert pies. Here is one of my favourite recipes:WEEKNIGHT SUPPER PIE
1/4 cup onion, minced
1 Tbsp butter
1 lb. ground beef
3 cloves garlic, minced
1/4 tsp basil
1 can tomato soup
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp black pepper
1/4 tsp garlic powder
Pie pastry for a 2 crust pie
Saute onions in butter until soft and translucent. Add ground beef, minced garlic and basil; sprinkle with salt and pepper. Turn up to medium high heat and brown (do not allow garlic to burn).
Add tomato soup, reduce heat and simmer 10 minutes. Allow to cool.
Preheat oven to 375F degrees.
Line a 9 inch pie dish with pastry rolled 1/8 inch thick (or use store bought).
Moisten edges of crust with cold water. Fill pie shell with meat mixture. Use fork to make pin type holes top crust and place over pie, brush with melted butter and bake in a preheated 375F oven for 1 hour or if you're in a hurry, bake at 450F for 15 minutes, then decrease heat to 350 and bake 15 minutes more.
Variations: Use Bisquick, following package directions, instead of pie crust. Can also top pie with mashed potatoes, and use a Bisquick crust for the bottom only.

I love pumpkin pie. I especially like it with whipped cream on it. I don't think there's any other way to eat it. Pumpkin pie is one of my favorite things about this time of year. I always look forward to have a huge slice on Thanksgiving because that's pretty much the only time I get any.

Do you bake your own pumpkin pies? If not, I doubt that you have ever tasted a REAL pumpkin pie. Personally, I have never tasted a 'bought' pumpkin pie that was more than just 'edible'. Bought pies are made as cheap as possible and 'usually' the one who makes them could not care less if a buyer actually likes the pies.
On the other hand, if you enjoy baking and really enjoy a delicious, unforgetable pumpkin pie, then you, like me, will wonder how anyone could stomach a commercially made pie. Yes, I know, they look perfect. And they should look perfect since they were made in a factory.
I challenge you to buy can(s) of 100% pure pumpkin and read the list of ingredients called for to make a pumpkin pie. Compare that list on the pumpkin can to the list of ingredients in a comercially made pie. Could you find a match? The commercial pie makers could not afford to make a pie anything like you would make at home. Their motive is PROFIT, and no one would want to pay them what they would have to charge for a quality product.
When my wife and her office ladies have a party they all bring something to share. The other ladies always request that my wife bring at least two of my pies, one apple and one pumpkin. Last Christmas a new office lady asked my wife what she was going to bring to the party. My wife told her that she had been requested to bring two pimpkin pies. The lady stated that she didn't like pumpkin pies, that she had bought some from "Food4Less" and didn't like it at all. When they had the party, my wife made it a point to offer the new lady a piece of my pumpkin pie and watch her reaction when she tasted it. She said she liked it, but before the party was over she asked my wife if I made pies for sale, that she wanted to buy some for her family. Sorry lady, but I only make them for MY family.
I usually make several pies at a time and freeze most of them so we can enjoy them without having to bake every time. They are not hard to make and I usually follow the recipe on the pumpkin can. But I also add a package of cream cheese for every two pies. Sometimes I use Riccota cheese or sour cream or even cottage cheese. I use a wee bit more of spices and sugar to make up for their dilution by the extra ingredients. You also need a good pastry that is flaky and not tough. My recipe calls for flour, Crisco, eggs, water and some apple cider vinegar.
If you think you like pumpkin pie then try making your own with real ingredients and you will soon believe that a really good pumpkin pie is well worth the time it takes to make it yourself and make it right. WooWoo ! It's GOOD !!
