Do you always exercise your right to suffrage?

We have a local election ongoing today. For the first time, I did not cast my ballot. I opted not to vote because I do not like any of the two candidates vying for the chairmanship. One candidate is the incumbent chairman while the other one is the former chairman. Based on their past performances, nobody performed enough. For this reason, I'm very sure that no improvement/development for our community is going to happen once again. Because of this, I did not vote. What about you? Did you ever abstain yourself from voting in your local or national election?

You may be doing the right thing. I myself is a candidate but lost. First, I really don't want to be a candidate but an incumbent invited me to join his team. Because of his persistent, I join him. Its not that I am bitter because I'm a loser but as you say the winner is the same. The incumbent chairman got it again. And the same, he will be a sitting duck. And his team mate just like him. I will say that my team mates are more qualified and more dedicated if given the chance. My team mates are college graduates with masteral degrees, retired admin officer from DPWH, I myself is an NGO worker, etc. To add, I have a friend who has a daughter who can vote now but she didn't allow them to register. Her reasons is their votes will just be wasted, as you can observed the winner is usually the popular one and the corrupt one.

Hmm... I would vote. Because, you know, one of them will be a cheirman - there's no other option. And you should choose the one who will be better in your opinion. As they're local elections I thinkyou know programs of each candidate so you can compare them and choose the one that suits you best. I always vote, if not for somebody I vote against something I don't like. To abstain is not a resolution for me. And by doing this you have no right to criticize any of their actions because they at least do something/anything for the community while you don't.
