I like clear chicken soup with slices of potatoes, carrots, and peas. I also like mushroom cream soup. Other than that, I've tried pea soup and it's also GREAT.
You're right that soup is WONDERFUL, esp. in winter he he he he...

I make my own soup. I make beef and chicken noodle. I use fresh vegetables and meat. For the meat you need a couple pounds of stew meat, 2 cans of tomato chunks, box of beef broth, garlic clove fresh, carots, celery, potatos, and some onion. I cook mine in my pressure cooker. Its very yummy. For the chicken and noodles you use a small chicken cooked and cut in pieces, carrots and celery, chicken broth. I also make my own noodles. I love making soup! I am actually making the beef soup for dinner tonight.

Soup during fall and winter are especially comfort foods. They warm you from the inside out and tickle your senses with the aroma that fills your home.
I LOVE cream of potato soup with lots of potatoes, onions and a nice rich, thick creamy base. My favorite to make is cream of broccoli. I found a terrific recipe on ALLRECIPES.COM that is so simple, that a beginner can make. I enjoy making beef vegetable scoup, I merely use my leftover roast from a Sunday dinner and add mixed vegetables to the cut up beef and the broth that the beef generated while cooking. YUM.
Thanks for asking. Soup is a wonderful and easy dish to prepare that is extremely satisfying.

One of my favourite soups would have to be lentil soup. I am going to make some today for my lunch:
Here is an approximation of the recipe I use:
LENTIL SOUP
1 lb. lentils
2 sausages, casing removed
1 tablespoon olive oil
4-5 quarts water or beef stock
1 package Knorr's vegetable soup mix
1 stalk celery, finely chopped
1 large yellow onion, finely chopped
1 lb. broccoli rabe
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 tablespoon Minor's beef base (or use your own stock)
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper (or to taste)
1/4 teaspoon Morton's hot salt or cayenne pepper
freshly grated Parmesan cheese for sprinkling
Dry or canned lentils may be used. Precooked lentils may be found in 1 pound jars, or prepared dry lentils according to package directions.
Wash and dry greens (broccoli rabe) in advance. Remove heavy stalks.
In a five to seven quart saucepan, remove sausage from casing and sauté in olive oil with onion and celery. When onion becomes translucent add garlic and sauté for three to four minutes but do not allow garlic to brown. Lightly sauté greens, then add stock or water and beef base. Add vegetable soup mix and simmer until greens are tender over low heat. Stir in lentils, garlic powder, cayenne pepper or hot salt, during last 10 minutes of cooking. Season with salt and pepper to taste and sprinkle each bowl with one tablespoon Parmesan cheese before serving.
Variations: spinach or kale may be substituted for broccoli rabe. Irish or Canadian bacon (chopped) may be substituted for sausages, or for a vegetarian or more economical version, eliminate the meat entirely.

Rice is my staple food. Other than fried veggie and meat I always have soup on my dinning table. The soup I like best is the veggie soup. The ingredients are mainly green veggie, peas, carrot and tomatoes. The tomatoes make the soup a bit sour in taste which I like very much. Moreover this soup is easy to prepare. I like to take soup during sunny days as the weather makes me feel thirsty easily.

I love cream soups. Sure, they're fattening and not all that great for you but they're so comforting and filling...and they taste wonderful! Potato and leek is a favorite, along with butternut squash, or cream of mushroom. Nice with a slice of toast and a hot cup of tea on a cold day. :)
