I'm 16 this year and I own a handphone. Majority of my friends and people around my age have handphones. However, I do know of some who do not own one. Many say that they are a "must have" in their life. Many say that they are just a "want" and not a "need". I'm sure that you have friends who bury themselves in the world of text-messaging and would literally die without their handphone by their side. How about you? Are you such an extremist or do you just use the handphone for emergency purposes? Is it always by your side or do you not even own one? How has handphone affected your life? Share them here=)

Wildboarking, I use a handphone since 1999. It is so important to my life that whenever I left it at home and I'm out I felt bad.

I would love to say that my cell phone is not a big part of my life but I would be lying. I use my cell phone EVERYDAY and could easily run through 1300 minutes a month. I talk a lot but i'm rarely home so my cell phone is my main source of communication. I didn't get my first mobile until I was 18 years old and I didn't "need" it until that point. I bought one for emergency purposes since I was driving more and now I have crossed that line. It has become some sort of necessity in my life.

ya...handphone has become an essential gadget to own nowadays. It has become a part of our organ in our body. Without a handphone, I'll be like losing my hand( do not know what to do)

It can be both depending on the attitude of the person. If he/she is the kind who goes all the way to getting the newest and sleekest design then he/she isn't being practical and goes for the luxury side of the cellphone. On the other hand, if he/she doesn't see anything else in a mobile phone and only as a means of communication then that's more of a necessity. I guess it's a personal thing. There are those who just can't help but see other people having better phones than his/her. Media does indeed play the Devil's Advocate role.:)

Hi widboarking! According to me, The necessity of cell phone depends on the person who is using the cellphone. I am a college student. For me, cellphone is very essential. I dont only use my cell phone to communicate to many people but I also use my cell phone to take important pictures and videos that help me in making my projects and presentations...... Also in this modern world, cellphone is realy very handy and essential tool that can be used anywhere and anytime. These days, you get many features in your cell phones such as camera, radio, messeging and many other things that helps us a lot and make our life very easy. I think cellphone is a much needed tool for everyone above 16 years of age!
