Coming from the philippines too, I know of many beliefs like that. I know of this superstitious belief that says you can make wish every time you pass by a train track by lifting you feet a little above the ground while touching something blue and red. lol. I do this every time i pass the train tracks in espana and gil puyat. lol. i know it isn't true but there's not harm in trying, right?

definitely there is no harm in trying as long as we also work hard for it, not just rely on luck.

This seems to be a superstitious belief that is practised by those who believed on luck and wealth. During wedding, it is believed that the bride should be wearing her left shoe with silver coin in it, simply for luck and good marriage life. Wallets when given as gifts should have money or coins in it them also for luck. People looking for job should be wearing shoes with coin inside the shoes for good luck and better chances of getting employed. This is a personal choice whether you believed it or not.
