Do you put up a lot of decorations for the holidays?

I don't usually go overboard with decorations but for some reason this year for Christmas I feel like I want to do more. I think it's because I'm seeing more of my granddaughter and I'm doing it mostly for her. I usually put something on the door to my apartment and the clingy things in the windows but this year I'm planning on doing more.
What kind of decorating do you do for the holidays? Do you put a lot of things around or do you do nothing at all? Do you enjoy doing it or is it a major job for you?

Well until last year, I really didn't do all that much for Christmas. I lost my brother 9 years ago this month. I'm finally getting back into the holiday spirit and not feeling like I have to be jolly because of the holidays. We have a basic tree that's prelited, got tired of messing with lights and just ornaments. I have a lighted garland that goes up the stairs. A smaller tree and a lamp post outside then I have garland around each pillar outside. Then my husband hangs the lights around the house. He would do more if he wasn't afraid of heights, lol. This year, I might add more to the holiday decor. Oh and I can't forget my wreath that I put on my door.

That's what I basically did was grin and bear it. I even got in a fight with my husband on how I really didn't give a crap if we had a tree up or not. He just said you might not want to do this, but you do have a daughter that likes to see it all decorated. Only thing I had decorated was basically the tree. My husband would hang lights inside because we lived in a small apartment.
9 years later, I still don't like the holidays and wish I could just blink and it would be the New Year. It just get's easier, having two kids and them helping with the decorations. It's even fun making our own and giving them out as gifts.

I generally decorate inside the house, but my decorations are quite unusual. I have a black tree and purple lights and decorations. I have a set of icicle lights that usually hang across both the windows but they are a pain to put up and I don't think I will bother with them this year, as it is hard for me to manage climbing up and down ladders.

Wow, the black tree and purple lights sounds awesome to me! The icicle lights sound beautiful too bad you can't figure out a way to get them up or get someone to do it for you.

lol...last year I put up snowflake window clings and haven't even taken them down yet! I especially hate taking the tree down. It's more of a job than putting it up.

Normally I love to decorate, but this year I have my dog and I don't want a lot of things on the floor for him to pee on, and I don't have many places to put decorations, LOL. However, I did buy these Christmas ducks last year AFTER Christmas on sale, and it's a big Mama duck, a smaller duck, and then a very small duck. They have wreaths painted around their necks, and I look forward to putting them in my apartment. Hopefully the dog will leave them alone. Other than that, I'll put up a few Christmas candles where I have the room, and that will be that.

Pets do make it hard to decorate since they are so curious when they see something new just sitting there within their reach. How could they not investigate? I also put a lot of holiday candles around especially the scented ones. I usually make some kind of decoration to put around them to make them more festive.

I used to go all out decorating for Christmas, ctry, but since I have been living alone the past few years I do the minimum. I have a pretty table-top tree because my apartment is so small I don't have a lot of room to spare. I also hang a wreath on the door and do a little window decorating. That's about all. If I got to see the little ones more I probably would do more.

Exactly! My granddaughter is basically the reason I'm going to do all I can this year. She's 14 but I haven't had the pleasure of spending a Christmas with her since she was much younger. Now that circumstances have changed for my daughter and for me it's going to be different this year and I'm excited about it.

I'm always searching the net for new Christmas decoration ideas. There are so many sites that have them and they come with complete instructions. I love making some decorations for all the holidays.

My mother always put something around the house that would make everybody feel that it’s Christmas. We always have the Christmas tree and some ornaments hanging around the walls. We also put Christmas lights outside so when we arrived at night we see something blinking. It’s really nice and little kids are having fun looking at it.

I have an odd shaped living room. It's VERY rectangular. So once
the couches and recliner and entertainment center are set in a spot there really is not a lot of room due to the way the halls are. So
I try to squeeze it as close to my front window as possible. This
way when it's lit the passing cars and walkers can see the beauty
of it. I have a lot of lights outdoors around the house and the
eaves as well as circling the yard. I think I have about 2,000
lights is all outdoors. I sometomes put lights up inside the house around a few windows also.I set up a few decorations on the doorways inside my house. A small tree, ribbon and bells on my front door. I decorate a lot for Christmas I think.
HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

It sounds like your house looks awesome when you're done and I'm sure we will see pictures at one point and I'm looking forward to that.

It's always more fun for the kids than it is for the adults. I'm thinking I might invite my son and his fiance over to help me decorate my tree when I get it.

I used to do a lot of decorating but to be honest, I don't know why. I guess to benefit my husband and I because hardly anyone else would see it because being in the military, we were so far away from family and friends. Now that we're settled in and retired, I don't know if I want to decorate anymore. It's gotten to be too much of a hassle anymore and I'm thinking of going through all that I have and putting it in the pile for a yard sale next summer however I won't give up my Christmas decorations though because I've too many nice things to give up and I do enjoy them.

my parents always put up all kinds of decorations for almost every holiday. Me and my sisters usually help put them up.

We used to, but with me working and going to school full time, it gets kind of hard to do it all like we used to.

It is tough when you don't have the time to do it but I bet you will make the time to get some decorating done.

We do a LOT of decorating for Christmas. We have a tree that has mostly Disney ornaments on it. We put lights on the front porch. We have lighted decorations that go in our three front windows. We have decorations in the living room, dining room and the kitchen....basically the entire downstairs area, except for the bathroom.

Holiday,,, it is the most exciting time of the year especially for the children. As a kid i love helping my mother decorating our home early days before the holiday. The most well decorated holiday for us is christmas. I dont know but i feel happy decorating our home during christmas, it has a different spirit.

We go all out. My kids love to decorate for Christmas and we have a lot of fun doing it. Lights on the outside of the house and wreaths and snow men. Inside we have garland and a tree and more decorations around the house. We also have a huge Christmas Village that we put up each year and leave up for a long long time. Its fun and my daughter loves to look at the Christmas village and rearrange the people in it and pretend they are sledding and such.
