Is Life Slow Or Fast In Your Town/City?

Cedar Trees In Uncle's Back Yard - It's Washington, the state that is. Cedars growing wild on my Uncle's property.

Is there lots to do where you live? Night life, shopping or major attractions like amusement parks, perhaps. Or is your town serene? Life is kick back. You bake apple pies from the apples in your back yard etc. What's life like in your neck of the woods and what do you love best about it.

Hey now, viva Las Vegas. That town I know is buzzing. Never sleeps, I hear. You know I love the Blue Man Crew/Group but I think I would get clostraphobia (sp?) in that audience. Free concerts hey? Tell us about it??

Well, compared to the tiny little Florida town I used to live in, this place seems very fast and urban. However, really, compared to a place like London, Newcastle is very slow and provincial. Compare the subways, for instance: In London if you miss your train, you only have to wait 4 or 5 minutes for the next one. In Newcastle if you miss your train you may have to wait up to 20 minutes for the next one. In London you can find many places open until 2 am, whereas in Newcastle most clubs close at 11. Still, at least there are places to go and things to do here, and we're only half an hour from the rural countryside. Best of both worlds, really! ;)

I remember London. Would you believe I was there for one day? The only thoughts of London I have is Mom and me laughing our heads off as Dad dragged us all over town. I mean we literally ran everywhere. I think he wanted us to see everything cause we had 24 hours. Newcastle sounds delightful. If I ever make it back to the UK I have four destinations so far: London, Scarborough, the Borders and Newcastle.

That's what I was banking on. Visiting the most castle-filled country side. I'll get there some day.

You're in luck then, because Newcastle is very close to the Scottish border. The only thing that's between us and Scotland is Northumberland county, the most rural (and castle-filled) county in the UK.

It's fast where I live. Many bars, restaurants, nightclubs, shopping malls, movies, casinos and always a sporting event. The midwest is very pretty in the Fall with the leaves changing colors. I was born and raised in our city so don't know anything else but a fast life.

I've heard the saying, "git her dunn" but never use it myself. Guess it's a personal choice........lol Casinos in this area for about the past 15 yrs. I'm a big fan so know all about the casinos.

A real Fall, just like those Rams, JK JK! I do have a friend from your part of the world. He's the funniest guy ever. Do they really say "Git er dunn?" Hehehehe. I was unaware of the casinos. Is that just in recent years? In any case, thanks for dropping by CarolB. Have a wonderful Fallish afternoon.

Are there cities that aren't fast? Because I'd like to see that. And by city I mean really a city and not a town that's like a city. I live in Baltimore. It might not be New York but it's a pretty busy and fast paced city and I've never been to a city that wasn't.

You could have a point here. I guess comparitively speaking we could say that one "city" isn't as fast paced as others. Point taken though.

i live in the city now. compared to my hometown 250 KM away up north , this life now is faster than before. Everyone walks 3 times faster and talks faster . lol sometimes i have annual leave and go back to my hometown to unwind . go mountain climbing or just bathe in the waterfall. This works very well for my rejuvenation. :)

Maybe one day you will make it back to your hometown. One can only hope. Did you say you would like to live in SeaWorld? Shamu's SeaWorld? That's sounds kind of nice. My daughter use to go to SeaWorld camp and they slept in that underground part where you could see the mammals and fishies through the glass. You would like it.

Yes, it sure does feel like life everywhere is just moving way too fast. I'm afraid if everyone slowed down we would stop functioning as a society or something. Scary thought. I agree with you, I like the slower pace and simple life.

Ah yes, the only time I get to see Cleveland is when the Angels come to visit you. And then it's only from the Stadium point of view. You're a city girl then?

We live in a city and it's a suburb of Dallas,TX so we really have a lot of things to do here. The shopping malls, nightlife spots and the like are just very near to us. But when I grow old already, I want to have a countryside living but the place is still near to the city.

I think it is slow here. Life is so simple and we really had a peaceful & a very normal life here No amusement parks, malls, casinos, etc nearby. I like our place better for the sake om children. I want the to grow with a normal life in a very peaceful environment.

The place I live in, is called a city..but it really isn't. There is not much going on at all. Now the last place I lived...I will not say it was slow, but the Daily newspaper..and it did have the word daily in the name was not published daily. I really find it a bit too boring, for example, we like to go out for dinner theater and it is over and hour drive --- but we go cause we like it. The best time I like - is knowing that one day I will say - I used to live there

I live in Birmingham here in the UK. The second city of the country we are lucky to have such a bright and vibrant city, full of life, one of the biggest shopping complexes in the country, the NEC, NIA and other venues for major events and an international airport close at hand. Bright lights, big city, yes it's great but equally we are surrounded by some wonderful countryside. Not far from Stratford upon Avon and the Malverns, and the Cotswolds are not that far away either. I am lucky in that my house is a ten minute drive from the city centre and yet also a ten minute drive into the countryside, the suburb is quiet yet full of life.

When I lived in Tampa, it was fairly fast. At least you could go to get Chinese at 1 in the morning. Here, in Fayetteville, not so fast. I can go to Walmart if I need something at that time of evening, but if you don't like Waffle House there is no choices lol. Not as much activities here as in Tampa either. I like it just the same though. Sometimes a slower life isn't so bad.

Normally, there is alot to do in Berlin. There are lots of historic things to see. Many kinds of museams. Lots of stores, and big supermarkets. Bigger then in Holland. Lots of American Stores here too. I like that. When and if I can walk better and longer, I would like to go into the shopping Centers again. It is fun observing people. Just sitting with a cup of coffee, and watching people walk by . In the summer that is so interessting. People come from all over the world to Berlin. I really like it here. Never expected that would happen. If you would have told me a couple of years ago, I would be living in Berlin, I would have called you crazy. It has been one year know. Lost my job, but still I want to stay here. People here mind there own business. And are very helpfull when you need them. Friendly and very polite. Take care.
