Need to vent!

I don't know if this ever happens to anyone else, but it has happened to me a couple of times. I responded to a discussion yesterday and was floored when I received a comment from the poster. It was rude-to say the least. This person acted like I had encroached on a private conversation. My response was in no way negative or controversial. I merely pointed out that I had just finished reading a book dealing with the topic they were discussing and related what the book said on the subject. The comments I received basically gave me the impression that I had butted in and my response had neither been asked for or needed. What is wrong with some of these people? I thought that myLot was a forum for members to respond to all discussions that interests them.

I think there is something in the air around mylot - there seems to be quite a few people taking things the wrong way or reacting to other peoples comments. Just as well this is a place where we can vent about it and eventually move on.
Sorry that this has happened to you worldwise - it seems to be happening a lot lately!

I just take it in stride, maddysmommy. It is not in my nature to be mean to anyone.

It seems some people need to get a lesson on manners. I have never gotten that type of response or comment, but have heard alot of others that have. It is plain stupid to be rude.

Yes, it is, Thoroughrob, and they should perhaps do as I do when I don't like a response-zip my lip.

Some crazy people think only their friends should post or only those people who think alike should post. There are also others who mean one thing and type something else. So, maybe this could be something like that. Don't get so worked up...for someone you don't even know. It's not worth it.

lol...I went through a similar incident once at myLot and I asked the person why they were targetting me alone when others had given similar responses. The person replied that I was the only one who reacted after their response while everyone else ignored it. I had gotten all worked up over some person's response ...a person I didn't even know.

No, it really isn't worth it, SViswan, but my response seemed to be the only one that got this sort of reaction. I am over it now.

I, personally, haven't had any negative feedback from discussions I've posted but, haven't have many responses either! Seems this site is hit or miss with discussion subjects.
I'm not a reader, am limited to the use of the internet, don't have a clue how WII works, don't have an Ipod either so there's no viable way I can post any comment on any of the above subject matters. No way I could be rude with my comments about something I know nothing about.
Is it possible the person who left a response doesn't read the book you were talking about and simply decided to be rude? Believe me, I am not defending anyone who posts rude or crude comments on MyLot. This is suppose to be a fun, learning site.

I will sometimes go to the Top discussions and find one that I would like to respond to, carolbee. I do this in order to make friends, not enemies. There is no way I would say anything offensive to someone I am trying to befriend.

Unfortuntely it does happen, there are some very rude people out there..I dont know why on earth they post in a public forum when they carry on like imbeciles, it happens all too often..If they dont want different responses dont post here...Not everyone has to agree with everyone..Pathetic behaviour..

A little consideration for everyone's feelings should be important to everyone who participates in a forum such as myLot, Calais. Some people want to think it is all about themselves though.

I appreciate both of your comments on this perplexing subject. I will not let it change the person I am. I'll just continue trying to be helpful whenever I can.

I think we have stumbled upon a patch of rude members lately. I have another friend who has just had a similar experience. It is a public forum, and things like you are describing are out of place. If this user wants to limit who is in the discussions they have, then they should do it all by private message. This is a public forum. I had this happen to me once as well. It does not feel good at all.

It isn't a pleasant feeling GG, to go away feeling that you have been reprimanded for horning in where you're not wanted.

There are a few ignorant morons here hun, and this is obviously one of them. Don't let it bug you, just ignore them and move on, they are not worth worrying about.

I guess my feelings are too easily hurt, recycledgoth, and I do try to respond with intelligence and courtesy. I will not let it bother me any longer.

I suspect that this person had not read the guidelines, Aurone, and since they are not on my friends list I probably won't come into contact with them again.

Thanks, naty, and you are right. I have actually seen it in posts where people will say they have not read the guidelines. They should.

Mylot is a forum for members to respond to any discussion that they find an interest in and a place where we should be able to give our honest opinion on things. Some people are just not willing to accept others into their conversations and want to be rude. That isn't right as you have as much right to post as they do!

Well, I gues you catch that person in a bad day, I believe anybody who post here is a person behind the post, and not everybody can be nice all the time...
If your comment was what you think, I am sure you did it with your heart... do not worry and keep going...
Here like in everywhere we get all kind of people and all kind of answers...
Have a great day!

Very true, tlb, and I have been in rather heated discussions which were carried on respectfully. If I have my own opinion, I don't worry that someone will change my mind unless I want to change it.

I've already moved past it, venshida, in fact, I can't even remember who made the post. I do try to respond to an occasional discussion from people who are not on my friends list, but maybe I won't do it again.

No I haven't had that happen to me. But if it did,I would report the person. There is going to be disagreements but being rude is not called for and I won't stand for it.

I have only reported one person in all the time I've been with myLot, sarah, and it was for something far more serious than this.

This IS a public forum, you have every right and are expected to interchange comments, views on various subjects. That is what Mylot is all about. I too have run into a few of "these" kinds of people. I don't know what their problem is, maybe they needed someone to take something out on, but just blow it off. Leave your comment and go on to the next one. For every negative person, I have found 10 positives on here. Sorry you had to deal with anyone like that. It is upsetting. I am sure when it happens to me again, I will be every bit as upset as you are. Have a wonderful week my friend :)

I accept your kind words with humility, applsofgld. There are days that I am feeling a bit out of sorts myself sometimes, and I would stay away before I take it out on someone else.

Yeah, I had one like that once. There was a running discussion of comments between two people, so I jumped in. They weren't rude, but just kinda made it seem like I had just walked in when the door was closed. I had also requested to be friends and was denied. So I felt kinda wierd about that. I mean, it's not like they are in a private chat room or anything!!!

I have had some real nasty responses lately and can't figure out what's going on with some of the members here. I believe we have the right to voice our opinions but when it could make someone feel bad I think they should just go by it and not say anything at all. That would be the polite thing to do don't you think?

Yes, ctry, that is why I try to choose the discussions I want to respond to carefully. I am not here to try and antagonize anyone over my opinions. If they cannot deal with varying opinions they have no business being here.

Yeh ppl who act like that, you need to get a reality check and realise this is a public forum and people are entiteled to their opinion. If you don't like it, then go to myspace where you can add your friends. Sorry that happened to you, but you get reminded the world isn't pretty even in cyber space.
