Having a whinge here.... Whats the point of paying good money for all the security programs when you still end up with viruses all over your computer.. What a hassle and inconvience and waste of money...

That is why I only use the free programs. After reading various comparisons on Cnet,PC World, etc. and seeing that the pay programs weren't any better than the free ones,I let the pay ones expire and went totally free.I vow to no longer waste money on useless programs(take that Norton!)that don't do what they are supposed to and are a pain in the butt anyway.I've been using AVG anti-virus for a couple weeks now and my computer runs so much better.Yea,free!

Viruses is inevitable evryday thousand of virus is being developed by hobbiest or people who do it for profit. The more virus are there in the internet the more profit the anti-virus company have becasue they will make a antidote or dat file that will cure, quarantine or delete it. That is the reason why dont buy anti-virus program, its a waste of money. It doest mean that if you have mcafee, avast, avg, kaspersky, and the like you'll be safe.

yes is true such as security software or system in some cases are not enough to defeat from viruses on your pc!!so i never understood why people buy all symatec products in fact many viruses are written to take models this system and so defeat symatec products itself!!but anyway i think many security programs just kiddin when they write some characteristics on their security pack as invisible on the net or invisible towards hacker?i think they know that to be invisible 100% on the net is quite impossible now..i think that to defeat viruses security programs are good but together need a good mind of the user as well!!such as you just control your behaviour on the net trying to stay far from treat on mail especially but also to not visit dangerous websites and so if you have a correct behaviour and a good pack of security i think your pc can be quite safe from wide infection on the net!!surely is impossible to be 100% secure in a so shared setting but you can improve it as well!!so if you have a good security pack and give the right alerts when need it is just a way to alert you to do not visit or open file you did before..and so now clean but stop it!!ehhe!!

You must have made a mistake... It should not happen under normal circonstances. Are you talking about viruses... or spyware?

if you really want to protect your computer against viruses and other attacks i recommend you to use "Deepfreeze". deepfreeze is the absolute PC protection. Deep Freeze instantly protects and preserves original computer configurations, eliminating routine IT maintenance while allowing complete unrestricted access to a workstation. Regardless of the changes made to a workstation, simply restart to reset the computer to its original state. The result is a protected, parallel network, free of viruses and unwanted programs. ever since i use deepfreeze i never have to buy and use anitvirus, antispyware, anti-trojan and other pc protection to protect my pc.

My anti virus software has been picking them up quite regularly the last couple of days, so there must be some newer ones getting around. Truthfully, I don't know how the companies keep up with the amount of viruses, especially new ones. I guess in some cases, they aren't!

I feel your pain, Calais. I thought exactly the same thing when my last computer was destroyed by a virus. Now I just use the protection provided by my carrier. Hope you get rid of your problem.

Uhm, I don't pay for my antivirus. Open-source and freewares are the best. You can contact support even if you've paid nothing. Plus, some open-source/freeware are better than the commercial softwares.
