Would you live in a barn?

I can't imagine that I would ever want to live in a barn. It doesn't seem like it would be too comfortable. Perhaps, because there are no air conditioners or heaters in a barn. And, I would not like living with the animals or bugs. And, where would you take a shower? Under the garden hose? Maybe if I were a child, then I might think of it as an adventure and have lots of fun living in a barn. But, being an adult, I'm way more practical. Would you ever live in a barn?

If the barn did not have any animals to stink it up and if it had at least an mattress and heat/ac. I think I would last a little while. I could only last so long without needing my computer..lol

In NZ we convert barns into homes over here, they have all the mod cons but have the barn shape, so if it was one of these, yes, lol. Otherwise I am happy where I am, lol. Lisa Lomas

I have a friend who lives in a barn. Actually what she lives in is a home, that was made from a restaurant, that was made from a barn. They had it moved. It had been called the Barnstormer Cafe, I believe. It is beautifully done and has lots of room for entertaining. I know, that is not what you really meant about living in a barn, but I just had to share.

A lot of people in England convert barns into homes. They have quite high roofs, and fans, heating, wood panel flooring, large windows and just about every mod con you can think of. lol. So yes, I would definitely live in one like that! As for a straight farm barn, I don't think it would be too cold as long as the door closed well, and there is usually a hayloft where one could sit, or sleep. Wood holds the heat, so where it warms up in the daytime, it will normally stay warm, and straw is quite warm also. It's a bit scratchy though. I'd like a decent mattress or bed. As for bugs and things, you could keep them at bay with citronella... either oil sprinkled onto the straw, or candles in glass containers would keep insects away. I would give it a try, at least... especially if I didn't have a lot of choice. It beats a tent, anyway. lol. Brightest Blessings.

Hahaha,i know its not the answer you were hoping for but, well we have friends who bought an old barn 5 years ago after the farmer sold his livestock and retired. It was sitting there for years empty and they got the idea of making a home out of it.They cleaned it out all good and put some walls up inside leaving the hole where the hay went for a loft. They put flooring and you should see this! Its beautiful! You could say they live in a barn but redone and no animals, hahaha. It has old antique beams everywhere and is all open space except for the bathroom which was made in a stall and has a sliding door. Its very big inside and gorgeous in the winter with the red and dark wood from the outside contrasting with the snow. But besides that,no i wouldnt want to live in a barn with animals, plus its cold, brrr! My aunt and uncle live above their barn. The cows sleep downstairs, and upstairs they have a living room, kitchen, two bathrooms, and three bedrooms. The whole thing is heated. It does kind of smell, though. I don't think I would personally want to live there, but then again, I'm not a big fan of big animals. I love my dogs and cat, but don't really want to deal with anything bigger than them.

No way. I would never want to live in there. Sure, there are times when I can spend a night in one (when I am on a journey with my friends) but barn was not meant to be for humans. Why are you asking, by the way? Do you know somebody who livesin barn? O_O
