Are you afraid of Halloween? Or just think its evil?

For most people, Halloween is just a fun night, a chance to dress up and rot our teeth. For some it goes against beliefs - or it strikes fear - the idea that the veil between worlds is thinner. What's your stance - how do you feel about Halloween.

Hi Art,
Neither really, I dont go ga ga over it, but I dont dislike either. I just think its sort of like Christmas and a reason for kids to dress up in costumes and go around begging for treats! Or tricks, which ever someone is going to hand out. LOL
I had neighbors when I was a kid, they passed out bibles. Instead of just letting the kids get their candy, they felt the need to leave their porch light on to draw them in and hand them out instead. That was a trick!! hehe Ill probably get bashed for that!

In what way is Halloween evil? I'm sorry, I'm just always curious WHY people have the opinions they do. I'm not trying to say you are wrong.

There is no fear for me in the veils between worlds being thinner. In fact, I see it as a chance for my loved ones to visit me, and I invite them into my home for dinner. There are so many loved ones I have lost... and so to see them is a joy to me.
Of course, I believe that some things that slip though the veils are not nice towards human beings, but I also believe that I am protected from them by my loved ones, as well as by my Gods. So there is no fear for me in this day, only love and comfort.
Halloween (or Samhain as I would call it) is the most beautiful day of the year for me.

I think that its an time of year when children and adults alike can have fun, decorate their houses, eat Candy and dressing up. Children look forward to the time of year they can Dress up as their favorite action hero, or princess, ghost and have fun with friends and an party at school. So for me I think its just for fun (and candy)..

I do believe in ghosts and spirits, even ones that are bad or harmful, but I do not think Halloween is scary or evil. It is my favorite holiday of the year. My husband and I are not religious people, and we love Halloween and are gothic (not in the way society has damaged the gothic name). We love having the extra chance each year, especially when there is a full moon, to dress up whatever way we want and not get looked at strangely for it. It's great to be able to get into whatever character you want and have fun with it. And I love being able to take my son trick-or-treating and let him dress up as his favorite character. Granted I don't let him eat all the candy he wants, and I check his candy first before letting him have any of it, to make sure the rappers haven't been tampered with or anything. He loves seeing all the other kids in their costumes and going house to house with his little friends.

I really like Halloween. I think it's fun to get dressed up and I love the little kids trick or treating in their costumes. I like the creepy and sinister aspect of Halloween. It's fun to be scared sometimes and I think that Halloween is the perfect time to be scared and having fun at the same time.

Halloween is an Evil holiday. of course some are thinking its a nice night of innocent fun. the truth is that is not. Bad things have happen on this evil night. A boys costume caught on fire, for no reason when he was in school in the middle of the day. A little kid got his tongue cut with a razor blade when he was eating his candy he got from trick or treating.
i am not saying this just to be say this. This actually happened. i saw it in the news.
be smart avoid halloween, u are better off

Wow you're right. And things like this happen on Christmas too - there are numerous stories of fires from christmas trees and lights, kids choking on bones at christmas dinner, and getting hurt from toys. Sometimes seriously. I'm not just saying this - its been on the news. Christmas must be evil too. Let's be smart and avoid it as well.

That is just unbeleivable that people get so worked up and say "holloween's the Devils holiday" Give me a break! Holloween is a holiday for kids to have fun and enjoy being a kid. there's notthing evil about the intentions, except maybe, stealing your brothers candy when he doesn't know it. Let kids be kids and stop preaching to them. Most people that cry that, are the biggest hypocrites themselves

I really don't believe that Halloween is fun, just a holiday for everyone to have to excuse to eat junk food all night. I do know people who actually are not allowed to trick or treat, celebrate Halloween, etc. because their parents believe that this holiday is pure evil and represents badness. I feel really sorry for them because Halloween seems to be holiday for everyone to scare each other and have fun with it; not just "evil".

I am neither afraid of Halloween nor do I think it is evil. For most people its an excuse to dress up and have a party, or to take their kids trick or treating. For some it is a religious holiday, it is the Wiccan new year and I plan to celebrate it in true Wiccan style, I have everything ready for my alter.

I think Halloween is just a fun night and yes, an excuse to dress up as someone else for a day and eat candy for a few days. Some people have creepy Halloween decorations sometimes but I guess it's really just for the fun of it. But I don't think Halloween is evil at all.

Halloween is what we make of it. If we think it is evil and scarey, then it is. If we just make it fun and happy, it is that. I personally choose to just look at Halloween as a fun day for the kids to do something different. Tonight we painted pumpkins. The girls drew funny faces and fishes on theirs. They have no evil in them as they are just children, and they were having fun. Honestly, everything in life is what we make it.
