Do you know Emily the Strange?

Emily the Strange started out in '91 as like a logo for skateboard stuff. then they made her into a comic book character. she is (or at least used to be when i was in high school and into my little punk rocker phase) pretty popular in Hot Topic. i do own a sweatshirt with her on it. i almost bought tons of stuff with her on it cuz i thought she was so cool, but now i am soooo glad i didnt!! (i still wear the sweatshirt though cuz its really comfortable!) the reason im upset is because Emily the Strange is a total rip-off of the character Rosamond from the '70s childrens book Nate the Great series! and im not just talking "inspired by" (i would have no problem with that...) just check out this comparison of a page of Rosamond and the first Emily the Strange bumper sticker: http://www.boingboing.net/rosamond-emily.jpg

I cna't say that i have heard of her, i'm guessign that she is some sort of cartoon character or something.

i saw an emily shirt at the mall, got interested, bought it and i searched for who she is in the net.. as far as i can remember, she's a fictional character.. a brat, a really bad teenage girl with her cats always with her..
