Have You Ever Watched A Movie So Many Times That You Can Recite The Script?

There are a few movies I admit to watching over and over and over again, ad nauseum, yet never get tired of...But have you ever become so obsessed by having watched a movie so many times, that you can practically recite the whole script? The movies I tend to watch over and over again are: Chronicles Of Narnia, Lord of The Rings (all three parts), Practical Magic, and these are just a few. For instance: From Lord Of The Rings: Fellowship of the Ring Galandrial has just finished pouring water into the mirror, slowly turns around and looks at Frodo who is slowly still walking down the stairs and coming toward her--she then asks... Galandrial: "Would you look into the mirror?"Frodo: "What will I see?"Galandrial: "The mirror shows many things...(pause)..things that were, things that are...(slightly longer pause)...and some things...that have not come to pass." Or gee, how about: Samwise: "Here, Mr. Frodo's not going anywhere without me." (Sam comes out from the bushes he was hiding from listening in to the council meeting) Elrond: "Indeed it is impossible to separate you two, when he is summoned to a secret council and you are not." (voice from behind Elrond) "aye, we're coming too." (Merry's voice--Elrond turns round with a perplexed look on his face as he sees Merry and Pippin come forward and they stand next to Frodo) Pippin: "You have to tie us all up in a sack to stop us. Anyway, you need people of intelligence on this sort of mission....quest.....thing." Merry: "Well that rules you out Pippin." Elrond: "Nine companions..So be it! You shall be the fellowship of the ring."Merry: "Grrrreat! (spoken with a Scottish accent mind you) Where we going?"(Frodo smiles at Pippen, scene fades to black) Okay..I WAS a drama major in college so maybe I remember lines and stage directions better...LOL---but you get the idea. So are any of you a bunch of movie nuts and watch a particular movie so many times you know all the lines by heart? Which one or ones...can you give one of your renditions of part of the script of a movie???

Hiya Pye! LOL No I dont think I have watched a film so much that I could recite just like you did!! I have watched The Wedding Singer so much that I know some of the lines. And I can recite just about all the lines to some tv shows; Roseanne, Still Standing and The Golden Girls. Ive never really been one to watch movies over and over again on purpose. My hubby will watch them, some of the movies he likes again and again. I end up falling asleep during movies, unless they are really really good and keep me interested. lol Bay Lay Gray xx

It drives my husband nuts!!! When my kids were little money was aways tight so I'd tape movies off HBO and they'd play them CONSTANTLY! My youngest can recite Forrest Gump - probably still word for word and he's 21 now! He also was good with Land Before Time. There are so many that I just know a lot of lines from, and I'll say them 2 seconds before they do in the movie. My husband isn't that big on watching a movie more than once anyway, so he just rolls his eyes at me.

I don't watch too much either, I'm mostly on the computer. But it was much cheaper than going to the movies or even renting them when they kids were little. That was one thing that I did splurge on for them...

Gone with the wind is the only movie I have wateched over and over and over, but I don't have it memorized. This brings back a fond memory of my daughter though when she was little. She had watched the Wizard of Oz so many times, we had the VHS tape and she was about 3 to 4 years old, she had it memorized. She wore this one particular dress she called her Dorothy dress, she had a little basket with an invisible dog named Toto, she would recite the movie and go through all the motions while watching it, it was soooo cute :)

Lol.... you seem to have a great memory! I rarely have watched a movie more than 2-3 times mainly if they play it on TV. And nope.... even if I watch it a 100 times I doubt I'll remember more than just a few good lines!

I am not as guilty of this as my hubby. The movies I have repeatedly watched are Armageddon (get the book, get the book get the book), Independence Day (great speech by the president), and Braveheart (freedom!) My hubby and teenage daughter have watched Forest Gump so many times that I refuse to watch it with them anymore as they do all of the Forest and Jenny lines together while it's on! Grrr! :-)

LOL! I can't honestly say that I have become quite so devoted to any movie, pyewacket, but I do have favorite lines from several. I love the LOTR trilogy also, and have not watched them for awhile. Maybe I'll do that this weekend.

Twelve Oaks before the Yankees! - Twelve Oaks plantation
Yes, many of them but my favorite is Gone With The Wind and I can say soooo much of the dialogue that it even makes me sick..lol...I think one of my favorites is the scene where Scarlett sees Twelve Oaks after it's been burnt to the ground by the Yankees. To avoid thinking about it at that moment which is one of her personality traits she says:"I won't think of it now. I can't stand it now. I'll think of it later.' "People say I'm a lot like her...lol...

Funny you should mention Gone With The Wind....my father was a nutcase on the movie and that's why I was named Melanie....LOL...when I was named that my mother called up her grandmother to tell her what name they decided to call me, and her grandmother replied, "Why are you calling her that down south name..." LOL---my father's side of the family WERE originally from VA--maybe that's why too??

I can't do it to that extreme but I can recite certain parts word for word of a couple of movies and I can do more of it when I'm actually watching the movie. I've got a terrible memory...I mean terrible. I've always had major problems with memorization. BUT I do watch my certain movies over and over and over and never tire of them :)

I like to watch a few movies. Like in Gaslight, 'So you think I'm mad dear Husband?" or Goldfinger, "No I expect you to die Mr. Bond." or in L.A. Confidential, "and very Hush Hush." Then there is that line from Vertigo, "a very apt pupil," and when the housekeeper and the girlfriend in "Rear Window" said that they would love to meet =--(well I forget her name.) I really should get the whole Hitchcock set in DVd. So I am not into brilliant conversations from movies and I am more into watching the scenery.
