I have problems sleeping in new environments as well. I would suggest that when you know you will be sleeping somewhere new, reduce your intake of caffeine and do something relaxing before bed. I also find it helps to make the room as dark as possible and for some strange reason I find the sound of a fan or dehumidifier helps me sleep!

Hi. wseayuan. Yes. I can be like this at times. When the environment looks and smells clean, I will be able to sleep well. If the environment looks and smell dirty, I will not be able to sleep there at all. It has to feel clean, smell clean and look clean in order for me to want to rest easily.

The first day is hard for me to sleep. I feel very insecure and scared, i usually i get up with even the slightest noise. It very very difficult for me to get sleep in a new place on the other hand if am at home its just few seconds i lie on bed and am fast asleep no matter even if someone would have a bomb dropped near me..i would sleep well

I actually sleep well in any new environment I am in for the night. My friends would laugh about it because I can just lay in any spot and fall right asleep just like that. I guess as long as the sleeping area is clean andwell kept, I feel very much so comfortable sleeping in that new area. One suggestion is to sleep with music you like or read a book before you actually lay down and fall asleep. Or maybe you can bring your own pillow from home to bring a sense of familiarity to the new sleeping environment.

There is no problem for me to sleep in a new bed in a new place. I can still sleep very well like the way I am at home. I am lucky for this. lol

Get out there and travel!
Six weeks straight of traveling and I had to sleep through all manner of things, top bunks, bottom bunks, snorers, on trains and buses, poor window coverings, people coming into the room at all hours - half the time drunk, loud noise on the street.
It has pretty much given me the ability to withstand anything while I'm asleep.

No, I toss and turn like crazy. We're planning on moving, and I just know for that first month if we do find a house and move into it, I'm going to have a hard time sleeping.
