When was the last time you went to a library?

There is a library only blocks from my apartment and I've yet to go in there since I've lived here the 4 years. I know they have computers with internet access but have heard that you have to get on a waiting list to use them and have a time limit so I wouldn't care to do that. As for reading books...I can read just about anything I want to online and it's a lot easier on my eyes than books are.
When was the last time you went to a library? Do you have one nearby or do you have to travel to get to one?

I go to our school library everyday. Reading books is my hobby that's why I don't feel bored when I'm there. We have our semestral break and I miss our library very much!
The peaceful atmosphere also draws me into that place.

The atmosphere is a great reason to go to a library. I always enjoyed the quiet.

That last time I've been to a library was when I was living in Texas. I used to go quite a bit but then I joined a book club and bought quite a few over the past, I'd say, 10 years and didn't need to go to the library. However the time frame is too short when I have to return the book because I'm a slow reader so buying a book without a time frame is better for me. Expensive yes and is why I haven't bought one in quite a while.

You are so right about the time they give to read a book. I'm also a slow reader and always had to call in to extend my time...what a pain.

Ha Ha. I may cheat but at least I'm honest.
I would use the library if I need to for a paper at school or something. But I don't like borrowing things, so if I want to read a book I either borrow from my mom (different than from a library) or I buy it myself. I like owning things.

When I studied in a university,I always went to library.I thought it was a good place for me.Going to library was my habit. But,after graduated from university, though government library is near my home,I haven't time and interest to there. In addition, downloading documents from internet is a good choice.I think it is not necessary for me to go to library.

A few years back I was going to College and we actually had to have one of our classes in the school library just to show the professor that we knew how to use it!

i just recently started going back to the library. before now, it was like 7 years since i was at one. i was going to borders to buy my books, which started getting expensive. i didnt know where the library was my neighborhood, but im glad i found it cause im saving money just renting the books now. i have to disagree with you on reading off the computer, it kills my eyes if and i get a headache. i didnt know that you have to go on a waiting list either for using their computers, i never have, nor do i need to now, interesting to know.

Maybe there are a lot of people in my city wanting to use them and there are only about 8 there. This could be the reason for the waiting list. You can call them or go there to put your name on the list.

I live in the country so even though the three villages surrounding me have small libraries I dont have easy access to them...the GOOD library is Erie/Buffalo and thats a good hour away but there is a decent one about 40 mins from here..We've not been to any libraries in probably a month or more :-(

With the convenience the Internet brings to us, many people no longer read enough books. Youngster prefer online gaming than head to the community library to read.
The last time I went to the library was about 6 months ago, it was near my home. I used to go to the library very frequently when I was a kid. Back then, there were not much entertainment for children, except sports and TV programs.
I considered myself lucky that I developed a love for books since a young age. The knowledge that books taught me is invaluable.

When I was younger I was always in a library. I even loved the smell of the old books. It's a shame kids today don't appreciate a good library any more.

I will admit that I don't go to the library as often as I should. The last time I went there to check out books was when I was pregnant with my first daughter. I think I checked out every single book that I could find on pregnancy! We have a library about 10 minutes from my house and I think that I need to start going again. They have a great selection, especially with children books.

I used to go to the Library at least once a week when I had a car. Now I don't have a car and would have to take 2 buses to get to the library so I only go when my daughter gives me a ride about every 2 months. I love libraries it is not the same to read the information on the internet for me. I need a book in my hands to feel like I am reading.

There are two libraries I use.One of them is only in Bulgarian but has worldclass writers and I'm signed up then since first grade and it's 10 min away from home if I go on foot. It's quite near. The other one is at the British Council and I go there whenever I feel I wish to improve my English. There are computers there that only full members can use. Since I'm such I would have used them but I haven't yet. Well just once to search for books because I got sick and tired of looking at the shelves. I have read some e-books from home and you're right it's a little easier but it's not that healthy for your eyes. I have another one waiting to be observed but I read other books that are near my bed.Hah...

It's been years since I visited a library, ctry. Probably the last time was when the library was on the next block from where I lived, about 7 years ago. I've never spent a lot of time in the library(considering my love for books), but I used to love it when the Bookmobile came around. You could go on there and browse and check out books just like at the library. I think a mixture of crime and economics put a stop to the Bookmobile. There is a library about a five-minute drive from my home.

Hi ctry,
There is a library branch about 1/2 mile from my house. My grandchildren like to frequent the library on their way to and from school.
As for me going to the library, I visit on-line, request books to be sent to my home, and send them back when I have red them. It is quite convenient for me that way.
They also have movies that you can check out. I have gotten some of the older movies that I would like to see, but would prefer not to buy for a one time viewing. Some are real old classics.
Happy posting..

We have one in town, less than a mile away and we go every week or so as a family and even separately. We all really enjoy it.
