Yesterday my future daughter in law was complaining to me about my son (as usual..lol) and his laundry habits. She said he takes off his socks and leaves them in a ball and doesn't turn them right side out. He does the same with his tee shirts putting in the laundry basket inside out! As for the shirts he has done that for as long as I can remember and it didn't bother me...I do it sometimes! As for the socks he never did that when he lived at home so I don't know what got him into that habit! I always make sure everything in my laundry is turned right side out so I don't have to deal with it when I'm putting them away. What are your laundry habits? Do you turn clothes right side out or just don't bother and do it after their dried?

I usually just throw it all in and do it after it's dried. What's it going to hurt?

They don't get clean?! How does she figure that? She seems to not make sense. lol The body sweats so they get on the clothes as well as the outside getting dirty from the environment. I wonder if she has book brains and not common sense? I know someone who will admit to have just that.

I don't know if it makes them dry faster...to me it's just less work to do when folding them to put away.

I try and turn all of the laundry right side out before it goes into the washer. By the time it comes out of the dryer, I am sick of doing it and don't want to mess with turning it right side out. I just don't like to bother with the laundry after the washer. Wouldn't it be neat to put it in the washer and everything came out dried and folded? LOL

I just make sure everything is straight and not bunched up. A lot of things like shirts especially tun thmselves inside out in the dryer anyway so I dont see the point in making them right side out to start with.

Hubby and I have a system that works great for us. We put all of our color clothes in the washer and whites go into the hamper. When the washer gets full, I'll start the washer so what ever is turned inside out doesn't get righted til it comes out of the dryer... if even then! LOL If hubby can't take his clothes off right then he can turn them out himself. lol I'll do mine and he can do his. I know that he works and I don't - although I'm looking for a job, he can still help out by cleaning up his own messes and his clothes are no exception.

Hello! I throw my laundry into the washing machine in the state it was in from taking it off. Now, I do know that it is much better for your laundry to turn it inside out because then the side that shows keeps its color or images longer. But with a family of five, I don't have time for that. So I simply sort it and then throw it in.

No I do not. It is same old story everywhere. I remove the socks and put it in a bin which contains clothes to be washed. Most of the time it is inside out.

Laundry - Put dirty laundry in the basket
My husband doesn't even bother putting it in the laundry basket. My son does. I do the laundry and I turn it the right way. I put them out to dry inside out and then turn them the right way when I put them away. It takes me longer to do it this way and when I don't have the time or I'm lazy, I take the easy way out and do what is convinient at that point of time. I've stopped complaining about my husband's laundry habits (wouldn't dare do it in front of my mother-in-law who does everything for her son and thinks women should never crib about the men's habits in anything). I've seen it's of no use and he isn't going to change.

Your last question there actually fits me to a tee. I just deal with everything after it is dried, except for jeans and socks. My son and my hubby have the habit of just throwing their pants and socks in the hamper without bothering to straighten them out. And when the socks have come out of the dryer in a ball, they're still WET! But other than that I'm a little on the lax side when it comes to laundry.

I use to turn them all rightside but it seems to me that my husband means to turns his inside out because he knows that it gets on my last nerve when I see clothes in the laundry inside out(I can't stand that) So now everytime I see them like that I put them to the side and wash them separately and dry them. I won't fold them and if I do I fold them the way he put them in the laundry. So when its time for him to wear them his clothes is wringle as all hell. LOL. But I bet you this the next time he make sure there turn right. LOL

Most of the time I do put them right side up but when my husband doesn't do it then I just chuck it in as it is and he wonders why they are still the way they are when they come out. I too get tired of putting things the right way so if I can be bothered I will, if not then I won't LOL

I like things orderly and neat, ctry, so I do make sure that everything is turned right-side out when sorting laundry. It just makes for less of a headache when you are folding the clothes later. Your future daughter-in-law should be discussing these issues with your son rather than you since it is he that she is living with. She should also be aware that it is next to impossible to change anyone.

I turn all of my clothes right side out. Mostly because I hang a lot of stuff up. Then because I have t-shirts and such which I put into drawers. So if they're inside out how can I tell which t-shirt is which! I'm really particular about it. But I hate doing laundry and I'd love to never have to do it again.

When I was a kid, well, probably a teenager, I remember watching my father getting undressed, taking off his shoes and socks. I watched him turn his socks right side out and I asked him why he did it. "Your mother is just going to have to do it," he told me. Now that I am washing my kids clothes I realize what he means because I am constantly turning socks right side out before I wash them because I usually spray the feet bottoms with stain remover. I do try and get them to do it themselves and most of the time I find them in the laundry properly, but occasionally there is a pair I will have to revert.
