I remember those days only too well and the cost to have it done. Now we can put most of our clothes in the washer and dryer saving us a lot of money. I just put one of my winter jackets in my laundry and it came out great! Do you have any clothes that you will only send to a dry cleaner? When was the last time you used a dry cleaner?

Holy moly--I can't even remember the last time I took clothes to a dry cleaner since thankfully I don't have many that need dry cleaning only--so it must be literally decades when I last took clothes to a dry cleaner

I'm sure that's true for most of us. I can't think of the last time either. It has to be over 30 years ago!

Hello Ctrymuziklvr, Some years back, the textile industry figured out how to blend silk so that it was machine washable. I considered that a very great day in human history. I tend to lean toward natural fibers: cotton, silk, and wool. Both silk and wool used to be absolutes for the dry cleaners. However, a few years back home alternative dry cleaning became an option via a product that we could use in our own dryers. I also considered that a great day in mankind's history. Suffice it to say that I find going to the dry-cleaners a real pain. So, I avoid it whenever possible. As of now, the only things I send to the cleaners are my older silks and pure wools. Which, I'm happy to say is only about 10 products per year. Yee-ha!

I never could wear anything that is 100% silk or even pure wools because I'm allergic to both! Save me a lot of money huh?

I haven't used the dry cleaners for at least six years, when I had them dry clean my wedding dress.

I've seen that on TV but was wary about trying it. I'm happy to hear it works well.

I used to send very few items to the dry cleaners till I got a little smart and started using Woolite and the gentle cycle however NOT the dryer. LOL It works great and without the cost of the dry cleaners. In the summer time I use the clothes line as often as I can so to save from the expense of the dryer however winter forces me to use the dryer :( It's no wonder our electric bill goes sky high.

I use Woolite often and definitely don't but the clothes in the dryer. I've also found something called Dryel that you do use in the dryer and is awesome.

Oh really? Dryel works? I've seen the commercials but didn't know if it does the trick or not. I wouldn't need it though because most of my clothes are washable but still to know about Dryel and that it does work, that's great! I'll have to try it one day, when I need to do that kind of laundry. HA! Once I find a job!! LOL

No, I never use a dry cleaner. With the advent of good washing machines, it is cheaper & more practical to do all my own washing. I buy cheap washing powder, & I recycle the water. Most of my washing I can hang on the line. I try not to use the drier too much, as it uses a lot of electricity. My husband was using the dry cleaner for his work trousers last year, as they were difficult to clean & even more difficult to iron.

I'm sure a lot of men have to bring their work clothes to a dry cleaner just for those reasons. They do such a great job of pressing them.

It has been quite a while since I've taken anything to the dry cleaners, ctry. Aren't we lucky to have the miracle fabrics, washers and dryers, etc., to make our load so much easier? I also remember when we frequently gathered clothes to take to the dry cleaners-and it could be a bit costly. The last item that I purchased which needed to be dry cleaned was a full-length winter coat made of wool. That was several years ago. Now my favorite winter coat is a Berber that can be tossed into the washer, and that's great!

I haven't read them yet but I'm sure there are members who have no idea as to what I'm talking about. It seems those days were a million years ago.

No i rather hand wash them and choose not to be lazy. Coz in drycleaners.. sometimes you lost some of your clothes and if something happen there you cannot complain and you have to be responsible for any damage they might cause your favourite dress.
