Would you hire a lawyer or try to defend yourself in a court case?

I can't imagine that I would ever want to represent myself in a court of law or act as my own lawyer in a court case. There are just too many intricacies of law to deal with. Why not hire a professional who knows what they are doing?
And, it never hurts to have an objective opinion on your case. What would you do? Would you try to act as your own lawyer in a court case? Do you think you'd do a good job defending yourself? Would you hire a lawyer?

It depends on whether I have enough money to hire a laywer to defend me, otherwise I would use what I have learnt to defend myself.

If ever I am in a trial or something related to court, I would not hire a lawyer to defend myself. I will defend myself because no one knows better than myself. I am planning to take LAW so there would be no problem if ever. :)

Definitely hire a lawyer. If ever I will be or am a lawyer, maybe I can consider defending myself in a court case. Since I'm not, I will just hire a lawyer since that's their job, to defend their client , etc. They have their own different styles but atleast they go by the book,. :)
