I finally get put in my flower garden in the spring, and a veggie garden too

We will be relandscaping as soon as the ground thaws, and I am so excited. I know that near the garage there will be a flower garden. The garage is so blah and it needs some color around it. And towars the front of the house, but behind the fence, I will put in a veggie garden. I can't wait, but I have to. Anyways, anyone have any suggestions on flowers that will grow well in Western Wyoming. The area by the garage gets sun all day, even in the evening. The garage is a really light gray color, and I want colors that will brighten up that area. We don't put vehicles in the garage so I am not worried about fumes or anything. Any one with a favorite flower that will grow good and fast, please help.
