Do you think marriage is necessary at all in life????????????

Last night, I came back home from my friend's marriage in the nearby city. Then I was thinking for a lot of time - Is marriage really necessary excepting for children? Then I started to list out all the requirements of marriage. Then I dint get any satisfying reason for marrying other than having children. So what do u think guys, do you really think marriage should be a part and parcel of our life?????
