Well I turned on some of my Christmass lights Halloween night. The reason I did this is because I have a lot of lights that cirlce the edge of my front yard & I did not want the kids tripping over the light string not seeing them. So here's a short peek at the green lights that line my whole front yard. How many lights roughly do you use for inside & outside decoprating? I might use about 5,000 lights total in the house, on the tree, and outside including decorations that light up.

One boy about 12 or so tripped on my steps due to a mask that had
small slits for eye openings. he laughed as he got up saying, "I'm okay. I've ran into 2 trees and a sign so far." His parents were at
the curb laffing really hard as he fell.

Grandpa Bob that is sure a lot of lights that you put up. My hubby used to hang a lot of lights outside when all my children were small and lived at home. Now they are all grown up and moved out he dont do it anymore. But I do decorate inside the house, and still put up the Christmas tree. I usually dont put up the tree until right after Thanksgiving.

So you dont take down your Christmas lights? Or did you just put them up? We usually put alot of lights up outside too. We have reindeer and snowmen that light up. Id say we probably use around 6000 lights in totaly. Ha Ha Ive got you beat.LOL

I put them up before it gets too cold as I hate trying to work in the cold and snow. I usually don't turn them on till Thanksgiving day. Then I take them down when it warms up again usually march or early April. Depends. I've taken them down in January when we've had warm weather. After New Years day I don't have them turned on though.

Ok,Grandpa Bob, I've had enough of you. You are constantly making me look bad with your fancy garden, raked leaves, and now, the Christmas display. Where will you stop!!?? Last night I put the outside light on, and gave out candy, that was it. Christmas decorations will be a wreath if I'm lucky. I find I run out of time when I try to do a lot around the house. I just don't seem to have the time when to do the "extras". How do you do it??!!

What is your electricity bill like?
When people in Adelaide do big lights display for Christmas, many of them report huge electricity bills.
So of the best displays have donation tins to help pay for electricity.
You have reminded me to buy more lights this year, if we get enough tax back.

Our electric bill goes up aboput 30 or 40 dollars a month with
all the lights. It's not that bad really. They are only turned
on for a few hours nightly. All day from the 24th till the morning
of the 26th otherwise. A lot that have the HUGE displays here also accept donations to offset the cost of running the displays. Mine
isn't that big. (yet) HAHAHA!!

That looks pretty cute. I used to do a lot more decorating than I do now. I guess I just lost my excitement for it but I think they look great on other peop's houses. I'm glad you are doing it for your kids.

Well is sure sounds like you go all out for Christmas. That is normally what we do. As for how many lights, I have never counted. But this year I might do that. Did you just put those green lights up? Or do you leave them up year round?

No I put them up about a week ago. I can't stand doing the decorating when it's cold so I put them up mid October. On Thanksgiving day I will turn them on. Then I take them down once it gets warm sometime between late March early April usually. I have to buy some new lights for the garage yet also. I think I'll get the icicle lights again for there.

Wow what a lot of lights. When you count the lights do you count each and every light bulb? I am not sure on that.
I do not use much lights. I do the decorating so this year I am not sure what I will put up. I will need help with the ladder. I have to be careful with my dizzy spells.
I have never counted the lights but I would guess it would be a few hundred at the most.

Bummer. We usually get a wreath from the boy scouts
at Cub Foods every year. No lights to it though.

We don't ever put lights out during Christmas. Out of the six houses on our road, ours is the only one without lights lol. A few years passed where we did not even put up a tree, but we did last year. We had to buy a brand new tree (one of the pre-lit white ones) and ornaments since the others were not all that great looking. We only bought these because we though my grandparents were coming over to see it lol. They never did but that's alright. Everyone else around here goes extravagant with their outside decorating and I really enjoy looking at them.
