Here's my Santa decoration that I bought last week. I found it while browsing for X-mas gifts and since it only cost €0.40, I snatched it right away so that nobody took it from the shelf he he he...I think it's pretty cute. What do you think? It's pretty cheap, isn't it? (Real size: 8.5x5x5.5 cm)
Do you collect Santa statues or any type of Christmas decorations? How early do you start decorating your house so that your house looks more festive?

I have many homemade decorations. I don't collect anything in particular. I love xmas and start decorating the week of Thanksgiving. I take my decorations all down the day after xmas. Its over then and by then I am ready to get my house back to normal.

Hello Ailema!
Call me crazy or odd, but I dont decorate for ANY holiday!! Not even Christmas. I dont have any children, if I did, I would for sure. But its just me and my hubby, and we dont really care if there is a tree or not. We dont really exchange gifts, maybe small ones, but motsly we just have a good meal and treat it as another day. He has to work all the holidays, so its no big deal to us.
When I was living at home I would decorate with my Mom. She always put up a tree and stuff, mostly because the whole family would come to her house for Christmas. Since she passed we dont really get together anymore. I guess the spirit of Christmas passed on with my Mom. Its not really the same without her anyway.

Hi, well, its ok with me and my hubby. I dont mind it. Its not like there would be a lot of gifts under it anyway. I would have one if I had kids, but its no big deal. ;)

Hi, Bay!
Ahhhh...well, back in Indo we never decorated for any holiday, either. It's just now that I start to think I wanna decorate my own apt. with a little Santa to make it more festive he he he he...
Yeah, I know what you mean 'coz there're just the two of you and your hubby has to work all the holidays. Having a good meal and spending time together are two IMPORTANT things. ;-D
I understand what you mean about your Mom. Moms are THE BEST, eh? Anyway, I'm sure your Mom's smiling down on you from heaven. :-))))
Hope you had a FAB weekend, though!!! ;-D

I'd be setting up the christmas tree on the 15th of this month (november), with all the decorations I can think of!;) I will also be the one's to put the Christmas light's outside the house, as well as the typical filipino symbol which is the Christmas lantern!;)
In some places, like those exclusive villages, they use to held a Christmas decoration competition. They have to out-decor and out-class other houses, to win the prize. Though it takes alot of effort and money, I know that it is really worth since you get to inspire others to make christmas happy and you get the feeling to share it with others!;)

Hi, raijin!
Ooohhhh...you're gonna put up your tree already mid Nov? WOW!!! ;-D I LOVE seeing X-mas lights outside houses!!! Christmas lantern, too? Maybe you can show me the pics later on and open a new discussion for it. I'd LOVE to see it. ;-D
X-mas decoration competition, too? It sounds pretty fun indeed, esp. if you have lots of money ha ha ha ha...Yeah, as long as you make other people happy, then I guess it's good. ;-D

while i don't really collect santas, i do love to get one or two new christmas ornaments to add to my collection every year. I also try and purchase a new one for each of my daughters over the years so they will have a few to start off with when they get married.

Hi, Cher!
Ohhhh...that's SO sweet of you to collect them so that your daughters will have a few to start off later on. ;-D Yeah, I'd also love to buy a new one each year to add to my collection. I just moved from Indo to Finland 8 months ago, so I didn't bring anything much that belongs to me he he he he...

Good deal. Both my daughter and I collect snowmen and my sister collects Santas, she out numbers our snowmen, I think last count she had over 300, lol. It's always been pretty much a tradition ( one that my daughter, sister and myself still carry out) that we start decorating for Christmas the weekend after Thanksgiving. Eventhough you see it in the stores at Halloween, we like to keep out our fall decorations through Thanksgiving. But no matter what room you go in there is a bit of Christmas in all of our houses.

Hi, palonghorn!
Glad you think so about my Santa he he he...So your daughter and you are collectors, plus your sister? WOW!!! Your sister has over 300 snowmen? GEEEEEEE...
So you start decorating for X-mas then? I see. I think it's COOL to have a bit of X-mas in all your houses. That way you really get to prepare your inner self for X-mas to spread joy and love around. ;-D

I love Christmas. The only decoration we put up inside is an enormous real tree which we go out and get the first weekend in December and then is decorated. I have tried to buy a new hanging Santa every year since I have been here for the tree . The tree stays up until 12th night (Jan 5th) the traditional time in UK to have them down by. I hate when it comes down as the house looks so dark and drab then after all the lights on the tree being there.

Hi, overhere!
WOW!!! You always get an ENORMOUS real tree? Real tree is fragrant, isn't it? COOL!!!! So you love collecting Santa, too? YAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYY!!!!
THX for sharing about the tradition in UK. I didn't know that. ;-D I LOVE learning about other countries' traditions! ;-D
Yeah, I know what you mean...in January it's still so dark, esp. without the X-mas tree and the X-mas lights.
Anyway, hope you had a FAB weekend and that your X'mas will be memorable! ;-D

Hi again!
Ohhhh...so you're a Hindu, eh? Lots of people in Bali are Hindu. There are lots of Hindu temples there and yes, I hear that there are LOTS of festivals of that religion. :-)))
Great to hear that your Christian friends invite you to participate in their celebrations. It's always good to have a good relationship with other people of different cultures/religions. ;-D

What a cute Santa decoration, very nice! We start to decorate our house either the first or second week of December depending on how in the Christmas spirit we are. Our tree always has a bunch of different decorations on it, and each one is different! No 2 decorations are the same!

Hello...I think you got a great deal for such a cute Santa. Yes, I have collected Santa statues ever since I was a kid. I have small ones that we put on the tree...larger ones that sit by the door and on shelves. There is a Santa in a sleigh that I have lovingly packed an unpacked for years and through every move we have ever had. The older ones hold fond memories of holidays with my Mom. This will be the 3rd Christmas without her and it doesn't seem to get any easier not to have her with us.
We usually start decorating the house in the first week of December and put the tree up it it is a live one no more than a couple of weeks before Christmas. As a tradition we often leave it up until January 1. However now we have 5 cats who love to climb in it we took it down on the 27th last year.
So have fun planning for the holidays and I hope they are really special for you!
Holiday cheers!

So you collect Santa statues, too? COOL!!! ;-D If I have my own house, it'll be GREAT to have a large Santa sitting by the door, as well. :-)))
Santa in a sleigh sounds AWESOME!!! Yeah, some things do bring back wonderful memories of our past, eh? Moms are really one of God's BEST gifts on earth, right?
He he he he...your cats love climbing in the X-mas tree? Must've been quite an adventure! Yeah, it's gonna be a special holiday for me 'coz it's my first white X-mas with my hubby and my new family. ;-D
Cheers to you too!!!

Hi ailema4ever! Wo, that is a beautiful Santa decor you have. I do have my own collections of christmas decorations which I have bought through the years and I used all of them every Christmas time. I usually put up my decorations as early as October but this year, I still haven't put my decorations up. I guess, I am still not in a festive mood..probably tomorrow? haha.. Take care and have a nice day. :)

...Very cute Santa, gf!
...My ex took all of our Christmas decorations before I moved out. I'm hoping to get what was mine before we married back. My father made some of my decorations, so they cannot be replaced.
...The past several years, I have beaded ball gowns for x-mas ornaments. I gave them as gifts to my family friends and in-laws. I saw one that I did sell on eBay for $75USD. It wasn't one I personally made, but one just like one that I made, same pattern. I will try to attach a picture of one that I did. This year I am designing my own.
...Peace be with you, gf!=(^;^)= Della

This is only my second Christmas with my own house so I've only just started to collect Christmas ornaments. I would like to be able to really decorate my house for Christmas and I think that I would like a North Pole type theme with reindeer and elves and Santas. A fiend of mine has a Snowman theme and it looks really good to have everything sort of go together so I think I would like a theme too.

I think I am going to start being known as the Grinch when it comes to Christmas. I do not collect decorations because I do not decorate for Christmas. I have found that I can't stand clutter. It drives me crazy that the decorations are out of place and need to be cleaned up. Last year I started taking down the Christmas tree right after the kids went to bed on Christmas day night. I don't know what my deal with that is, but I couldn't wait for my house to be back to normal.

Hi, blueunicorn!
The Grinch, eh? HE HE HE HE...I understand what you mean about clutter. I don't think we'll also put up any X-mas tree, but I just bought that Santa decoration to make our small apt. look a bit more festive for the X-mas season. ;-D
Well, just as long as you're happy and everybody's happy, I think that's good then. ;-D

I was thinking instead of a tree that I will put up a reindeer decoration that I have from last year. It was meant to be outside and lighted, but it didn't do too well outside because no one could see it. It's rather small compared to a lot of outdoor decorations. This way it is one piece, it can be moved if needed, and it is easy to put up and take down. I think that's a good compromise. My only worry is that the dog(s) may not like it and try to bite it. I foster Golden Retrievers, so they are not always used to new things.

Ahhhh...a reindeer decoration? That's COOL, too!!! Yeah, I know what you mean. Putting up and taking down a X-mas tree is a lot of work he he he...
I DO hope your dog(s) like it, though!!! Golden Retrievers? They're SO CLEVER and CUTE, too! I LOVE that kind of dog!
Hope you had a FAB weekend! ;-D

That's nice! I like Santas.. and also angels.. But don't really collect anymore, as at age 52, I've now entered the stage of throwing out.. and less clutter! Which is very ironic, because when we're younger, we spend so much time acquiring! But hey, both are fun! I love to decorate for Christmas.. will do so right after Thanksgiving (here in the U.S.) and will leave them up until my family starts nagging me about taking them down.. seems like I can't get away with it as long as I used to! :)

Hi, flowerchilde!
Ah, I get what you mean. In my parents' house there are also too many things that they no longer use he he he...It's true that when you're young you buy this and that and then you realize that there's too much stuff already after a while that you don't really use he he he...
You're right, though. Both are fun indeed. ;-D HA HA HA HA HA HA...so your family starts nagging about taking them down earlier nowadays, eh? ENJOY decorating anyway! ;-D And have a SPLENDID holiday season with your family! ;-D

I don't colelct things like this But I would have always some decorations in my house for Christmas. We alwyas use to do it with my mum and now when I am living by myself I do it too. I would start decorating at the begining of the december, but most of the decoration I would do by myself.I love to do stuff liek this, it is really enjoying for me. Also I would buy few things and every year few more and more and I want see how much i would have in 10 years? So do I collect them? Lol

It's nice to hear that you still put X-mas decorations. :-))) You MAKE your own X-mas decorations? WOW!!! I SALUTE YOU! I've never been much of that kind of girl. I suck at creating stuff he he he he...
So yes, I guess based on your explanation, you DO collect them he he he...but you make most of them yourself.

Hi, pinay!
You bought a dancing Santa last year? WOW!!! That's COOL!!! ;-D Yeah, I also can't afford buying expensive stuff. The reason why I bought the Santa I mentioned was 'coz it was cheap ha ha ha ha ha ha...
You're right...we do need to allocate our money on more important things first...then if we still have enough left, we can pamper ourselves by buying Santa every once in a while if we find a good and not too expensive one. ;-D
