Dhoni did a great job as a captain and i am not sure how he will look at the test cricket as. But VVS Laxman has great test cricket knowledge and even i feel that he would be a good test captain but the point is, laxman has not played too many games recently and so giving it a chance is not quite secure. May be we should watch laxman in not so important games and then decide whether he would do a good captain job or not.

i think dhoni has slowed a bit after becoming captain.take a look at his game alone,he is not in his elements.in my opinion he should not b burdened now though his captainship is good.he must b the vicecaptain

I think first VVS Laxman should be selected for playing in the national team before being called for captaincy. Lets see if he is included in the playing 11 first!!

I don't think there is much harm in making Dhoni the captain as he is one of those players who is really not weighed down by responsibilities. The most popular name doing rounds now is Sachin. If he is elected captain, I would think it to be a step back for Indian cricket. The other name doing rounds is VVS Laxman and again given that he is going to be around for only around 2 more years roughly, I do not think it to be more than a stop gap arrangement.
I think the time is ripe to groom Dhoni as both test and ODI captain.
Cheers!

The number of test played by Dhine is very less, so he does not have any sort of experience to mantain the team, we should give the capitaincy for test as the player who can tackle the whole situation as per the game. The senior players like Schine or VVS Lakshman can apt choice to me. A test match is not like One day international or T20 matches. It is the game of skill and patience is required to take the charges as a captain in test. I think Dhoni cannot maintain the team in test matches.

No, we have not seen any kind of pressure on Dhoni when he captains the ODI side, so why not give a chance to do the same job in Test matches ....
Laxman on the other hand seems to be a good test player, captaining him would add more pressure on him
